Receipt printing additional info?
I’m fairly sure this isn’t possible but figured I’d ask. I sell some products with no packaging but would like to include ingredients “on demand” to comply with FDA laws. I’ve seen some retailers that have the ingredients of products print from their receipt printer when those specific items are purchased.
I saw you can add “item descriptions” that can print on the receipt itself which would potentially work but I have different ingredients lists for different variations of items and don’t think I can add “descriptions” at the variation level.
Is there anyway to do this other than making them all items instead of variations?

Hello @aliciavr6, thanks for reaching out. To clarify, you want to know if you can add descriptions to variations so that they will print on the receipt?

You cannot add descriptions to variations @aliciavr6. But I am tagging some super sellers who might be able to provide a workaround or more insight @LocavoreStore @porktaco @GourmetOnWheels @HC_Charlie @ryanwanner. Thank you for all your help guys!

@MayaPCould Item Modifiers be set up to identify the ingredients? It wouldn't act like a true modifier to the base product, but the online help indicates that the modifier applied to an item will display on the customer receipt. I don't use Item Modifiers, so I'm not sure of any limitations but figured it might be able to be used as a work-around.

I think @TwinkleToes is on to something here, @aliciavr6 .
Modifiers will print on the receipts in a manner like this:
Item Sold $x.xx
Item description, Item Modifier, Item Modifier
If you make your modifier names pretty descriptive you will see the ingredient list. The biggest problem I see here is that the more descriptive the modifiers are, the harder it'll be to ring out: the text will get smaller in the buttons and will probably cut off part of the text. If you can get by this I think this is the best option for you.

Not sure if there is a workaround, but I would hope that the main description is also on the variation receipt.

@aliciavr6 @Could you list your items as singular (instead of doing variations?) then you could utilize the descriptions. I’ve also found that sometimes it’s helpful to avoid variations especially when adding items to a website; you can add more photos and also populate category pages easier
