Team Communication with Square Team App

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: We wanted to try the Team Communication.

We wanted to try the Team Communication. But it appears it does not send messages to the Store register. Are we doing something wrong?

Hello @RoastyRooster !

Unfortunately, team communication is more geared towards individual team messaging than it is alerting your point of sale. As long as all your team has the Teams app installed on their phones, they will get messages as they're sent out. Not ideal for real time messages, especially if you have a no phone policy in place, but it's the way the messaging was designed.

The only way I can think of to potentially bypass this if you're using an iOS or Android device (not a register or terminal) would be to set up a "Register" employee, download the Teams app to the device and log in as that dummy "register" employee. On iOS you can make system alerts persistent via settings, so the message you send to the register would stay on the screen until an employee clears it.

Having an alert we can program on the app sign in screen would be extremely helpful though. I recommend posting your idea over in the Ideate section of this community. The dev team regularly looks through requests to help them with the development roadmap.

Hope this helps!

Hi @RoastyRooster, thank you for reaching out!

With the Square Team app, you are able to manage your team more efficiently, but unfortunately not every aspect is totally customizable. @ryanwanner offers a really great workaround! Posting on Ideate is always a great next step, as well.

Thank you again for your post and feel free to reach if you have any other questions or concerns!
