Offline Mode wants update
So maybe I don't understand Offline Mode. I thought it was so you could go somewhere there was no cell signal and still be able to take CC payments.
So I followed the instructions and put my device in Offline Mode while connected to WiFi. Went then went to the farmer's market and at that pointed attempted to connect to my G2 Square Reader for Contactless and Chip.
So what does the app do next? It wants to connect to the internet to check for updates for the reader.
So like I said, maybe I don't understand Offline Mode. If I need to go into Offline Mode to take payments because there is no cell signal, how does the app think there will be enough signal to check for updates?
What am I missing here? There is nothing in the instructions indicating you need to connect the reader to the device while you still have signal, just that you need to put it into Offline Mode, which I did.

Hello @Coppermtnconfec
The reader will work offline, but if the app itself knows that there are updates available it will still try to push the update to the reader. Reader security updates should always be taken care of immediately for the security of your customers and the Square network.
Your best bet is to have your app and reader connected to a wifi network before your event so everything is updated before you start your event.

Thanks.
I wonder why they don't bother to mention that in the Offline Instructions. I could have easily done that before we left the house had we known.
