New order emails GONE, replaced with receipts?

The only way I am notified of a new order is by email from Square. In the new order email, it gives a breakdown of the order, customer, product, and order NUMBER.

As of 5/1/25 we are now receiving receipt emails for new orders, as if I AM THE PURCHASER? It literally says MY NAME as the buyer. With no helpful information like who the actual purchaser is, not even the order number!

Now once I get these vague "receipt" emails for new orders, I have to frantically long into square on my computer, and search for the total sale amount to hopefully find the new order so I can print it.

I called, and square simply said - "yes, this is the new update, this is how its supposed to function. I will send you an email describing the change so you can educate yourself." then they never send the email. it took over AN HOUR on the phone with them trying to report this bug, to just be told "it is what it is."

Is anyone else having this issue?

Hi @603floristry - I see this is your first post in the Square Community so I'd like to officially welcome you! 🎉 My name is Violet, and I'm one of the Moderators here in the Square Community. Nice to meet you! 🙂

This does sound a bit odd. Would you mind sending a screenshot of the new order confirmation you've received? (Just be sure to censor out any personal information) Then, I can take a closer look 🔍

I'll keep an eye out for your reply!

Aaargh! We used to get a very concise and clear email with details of the order. Responding to it was quick and easy WITHOUT having to log in to Square. NOW we get a receipt with incomplete information.

We offer several shipping options but the new receipt does not indicate what the customer requested.

A few examples are

- UPS or GLS 1-2 Days Insured for $200

- 5-7 Business Days

- NEXT DAY AIR w/ICE PACK

Now the order simply says SHIPPING.

I have attached before and after screenshots.

To add to my previous post, the notification email we used to get had the billing address, shipping address, and all other contact information neatly presented. Now I have no idea what the billing address is UNLESS there is a fraud alert. We ship high-end wine and routinely check to make sure the order is legit.

It almost seems like Square is intent on making our busy lives just a bit more complicated.
