Google Merchant Integration

Good Evening!

I've just started down the rabbit hole that is google merchant and adding products to improve visibility of my business on google.

I note shopify and some other POS systems have native integration with Google Merchant, but it seems square does not offer this yet.

I do note that this feature is currently in Beta testing for US only, I am hoping to see this in Australia very soon - any chance of an update on it?

It doesn't look like this is coming to Australia in the near future at the moment, but it's on our radar. We'll keep you updated here, and it looks like you've already joined our Beta community, which is where we'll recruit for Australian sellers to test this.

Thanks for reaching out to us here. Unfortunately, we don't have any news to share regarding Google Merchant Center for Australian Sellers.


After reaching out to the Square Online team, they have suggested a temporary manual workaround. This entails individually adding items to Google Merchant Center by following these specific steps. It's certainly not a permanent fix but it's something to try while we await further updates on this feature being introduced to markets outside of the US.

Hey there @Cycspd 👋,

I haven't heard of any new updates since we launched the US Beta for this integration. Depending on how successful the Beta goes, it may take several months for these programs to become available in other markets.

If we do hear of any changes though, we'll be sure to let you know! In the meantime, I'll continue to pass on the feedback we received via this platform.

I note that GMC data is not showing Price & Availability on almost all products.

 

I have raised this issue with both Square Online & Google Merchant Support.

 

Square Online simply indicated it is a GMC crawl issue, where as GMC Support indicated a 'data' issue & hence request the WEB Developers to investigate.

 

Here is the response from GMC support " 

Also, I would like to inform you that the website crawl method of feed creation uses structured data and sitemap information to extract the most up-to-date information about relevant products from your online shop. In order for the website crawls to work for adding products automatically to the Merchant Center, we suggest implementing correct structured data markups to all product landing pages on your online shop.

For products to be added automatically, the following attributes are required:

Title [title]
Price [price]
Availability [availability]
Image link [image_link]

Also in order to make any changes on the structure data, I would request you to please get in touch with your web developer.

The data source may not contain duplicates of the products that are included in other data sources (for example, file-based data sources) in your Merchant Center.

Product information may be refreshed each time that the system crawls your online shop. Crawling rates vary; however, the crawls may take place at least every 24 hours (provided that the online shop is available to crawl). Any products newly added to your online shop may be included in the website crawl data source after the next crawl.

Have you had any feedback from Square on this? We have the same problem, but the thing is - it's not ALL products that are missing price info - just some, which which seems strange. There's numerous posts about the problem in this community - dating back to 2020! - but no useful answers.
