Can anyone tell me how to get traffic to my site and purchases?

I need advice on how to get traffic to my site and get sales. I haven't had any sales for a while, a long while and then, it was family. I have tried everything.

Hey

Not sure of what type of business you run.  Online sales in general can be tough to get as well as maintain.  There are a few threads on a similar topic by clicking here.

Besides possibly fighting other giants that may be in the same field as yours, being consistent and repetitive with social media will help build traffic.  Anywhere that you can list your website for free (email signature, IG, FB, etc) you should list it.

Checking out something like Google Analytics or FB analytics to see and narrow down when the best time of the day is for you to post, as well as where your customers are based from as well.

Feel free to share what you do for business, and I'm sure more of us can chime in.

If you do that then I would suggest making videos of you creating them and posting them to the social media sites. Reels and videos are a hot item right now and if you use music and sounds that are getting the most views it will prop your page up to be seen. People love watching what you make and if you let it be known you are selling what they are seeing they will also buy.

Yes! Use Google Ads. I've had great luck with them.

I would definitely have my website as my signature on emails, texts, etc.  Pop-Up shops are another way for people to see you work and direct them to the website for future orders.  Being consistent on social media by doing videos of you making your product or even doing lives can help.  You got this, don't get discouraged.

Do you have a website /blog? If so blog on topics related to the product(s) you sell without selling to people. Next create a Pinterest site and market that site. Create a FB page for the product(s) you are selling. Create paid FB ads. Join various groups who might be a great fit for your product(s). Join LinkedIn and again join groups.  You need to do some offline marketing as well to get people to go to you site.

I hope this little bit of information helps. If not read articles on how to sell your product on the Internet.

Open store on Etsy, ebay or any other platform that the traffic is already build in are best to start. Doing ad for traffic over those platforms are so much easier than to start a new website then you have to figure out how to use FB ad (to drive traffic there need a big budget to make it work). Big business outspend ads than competitors to win customers.

Hi Nancy,

Not sure if you have already done this, but it's given me consistent, organic traffic for a long time.

(1) Add your site to search console https://search.google.com/search-console/ and include your latest links with a sitemap.xml

(2) Create a business page on google https://business.google.com/create

Hope that helps,

I would work on the content and design of the website.  Also, do some research for the keywords you're trying to attract visits from with the search engines.  Create a good social game plan as well.  Send me a message and I can give you more detailed advice and I can go over your site, page by page for you.

I am in a very competitive and cut-throat business industry, and I had that same issue for nearly a year with my business. I used to have to buy leads for huge sums of money, and everyone else had already worked them. It was a tough way to make a living. I hooked up with a marketing training firm which was able to work with me and show me how to start generating my own inbound leads that nobody had ever worked before, and who were really excited and ready to work with ME and not just anyone in my industry. It changed my business around dramatically, and quickly. I would recommend that to you. If you want to check out the same group I went to, go to https://tw3systems.com

All the best, and don't worry. With a little training, getting traffic flowing, and then sales, is actually fairly easy.

Here's the problems that I see:

  • As a small business owner, we have more than enough to do already. Now, adding Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, Reels, Pinterest, email campaigns, running ads, ETC. to the list is incredibly time consuming. In fact, it's a full time job for a social media and marketing manager. I know ... because I used to be one. The return you get from all that work is a gamble. Roll the dice. It might help, it might do nothing.
  • Small businesses are competing with GIANTS like Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc.  Big Box stores and giant online retailers, which are often cheaper, ship just as fast, and are at the absolute forefront of people's minds when shoping.

How do we combat that? I'd like to hear others' ideas.

I know that Etsy and Ebay do a great job of pushing customers to the folks who sell with them. Maybe Square could implement something similar in the future?

I agree with you all though... something has to give. Because spending an additional 20 hours a week on social media ain't it!

Agreed, competing for the same lead the bigger guys are going after is not the way for sure. Capturing the direct attention of a potential customer is the only way I have found to be effective. I really have not found social media to be effective, but direct advertising to my customer base and prospects that fit that interest base, and then staying in contact with them over time has been an excellent source of continual revenue for my business.

I don't really do allot with social media posting because it takes too long, and I frankly never found it to be very effective. The folks at TW3 Systems taught me how to re-organize my site to direct my prospects through a process, or funnel, to turn them from lookers into buyers. All I do is place ads out to capture traffic, and then I let the system do the work to turn them into buyers. It works wonderfully for me. My business increased by 560% since meeting with these guys. I was able to cut my cost per lead to $0.23, and every $1.00 I spend on advertising now brings me in between $80-$125 ROI up front, and builds my list for future repeat sales as well.

I see some good advice and not to good advice.  Social media is amazing for advertising if you're doing it correctly.  Not only that, but the social media signals are picked up by search engines, Google in particular.  Sales funnels are great, but there are other ways to get started that could really kick a website in gear,  I see things in this discussion remarking on having to compete with "the giants", but there are a lot of strategies that can compete with them just fine, especially if you're a small business.  If you have a physical store front, you can dominate locally quite easily.

Note: One person in here is trying to get your business, as the site they're promoting is associated with them.  I'm not saying that it's bad to self-promote, but pretending to be referring to someone else for the sake of a sale is just dishonest.
