Anyone have a card declined because it was routed internationally?
A customer contacted me yesterday about trying to order through my website. The order didn’t go through and when she called her credit card company they told her it was on “hold” (actually it was declined) because the payment went through Google Australia. The rep said that sometimes happens when you click on a link in Facebook that takes you to a website. Any solutions to this problem? I will lose a lot of customers with this. International authentication rules are different and US cards aren’t always set up for these rules.

I've had this happen a few times and I'm in the United States. Customer error on their part. Their card expired and they received their new one. Unfortunately, she swiped her old card and declined it twice then realized she was using the old one and then tried the new one. It went through no problem. Unfortunately, the next day or 2 days later square emailed me stating they blocked her card for security reasons and for my benefit in the future. Ughhhhh, thank goodness she is a weekly regular and I had her number from an order and had to call and explain everything. Once that card goes through the customer takes their items they just bought! If this would have been a new customer we would have been out over 400.00 The customer was so upset not at us but with square and she contacted them and left a mouth full and her card to make sure she wasn't double charged which she wasn't. She still shops weekly and now refuses to use square and pays by check or cash. Being a retail furniture store and do custom orders that's roughly around 25k a year square lost out with just one customer. And now I'm very hesitant to do large orders or deposits on custom order not knowing if they are just going to block any other customers and deal 50% cash or checks and keep smaller items for cards and I shouldn't have to do that. I should feel comfortable and confident with my credit card processing company. Since 2014 not 1 single charge back ever and boom was hit with that. I don't know if that's the same thing or issue your facing?
If I helped answer your question hit the best answer. Thank you!
