Displaying custom attributes on an item page on the websiteI

Hello (and thanks in advance)

I have a wholesale microbakery website. I have created custom attributes on my items, like ingredients, weights and dietaries (gluten free, dairy free etc)

My sales items are synced with my item library but I can't see where custom attributes are available in Website > Items > Site Items. I'd love to be able to display these on my item pages.

I can't find out how to do this. Is this possible?

Cheers

Hi @bakerlou 👋

Can you post a link to your website, and give us an example item you are referring to? Can you also post a screenshot where you added this content: I have created custom attributes on my items, like ingredients, weights and dietaries (gluten free, dairy free etc)

I'll be on the lookout for your reply! Thanks 😊

Hello

Thanks for the reply.

The website is just-gf.com.au.

If you look at this item

https://www.just-gf.com.au/product/gluten-free-artisan-sourdough/1?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=fals...

It has a number of customer attributes in the Item library - ingredients (text), approximate weight (text), gluten free (boolean), diary free (boolean) etc. The image option on this post editor toolbar doesn't allow me to upload images but I'm happy to upload it somewhere else or email it to you.

Site items in my website don't reflect these customer attributes. There are no fields showing these custom attributes when I go to Edit Item for the website. I have my Site items automatically syncing with my Item Library so I would expect that they'd sync along with the other information. Because these field aren't in the Site items, they aren't available to be published to the live website.

Does that explain things a little better?

Thanks for your assistance!

Baker Lou

Thanks for the extra info, @bakerlou

Hmm..🤔 It looks like you already have your site descriptions setup to sync; from the Square Online dashboard, Website > Items > Item Sync

Can you post a screenshot of the edited details from the Square dashboard? Are you adding the items through the dashboard on a browser, or are you using the POS (or any Square) app?

Hello BernadetteA and thanks for your reply.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm not able to upload photos using the editor toolbar in this online discussion forum. I click the camera icon and the dialog box doesn't seem to recognise the image path I enter so nothing uploads to my post.

I am adding the items through the latest version of Google Chrome browser on my desktop computer. From the dashboard I choose Items & Orders > Items > Item Library > Create an Item.

Cheers

Hey @bakerlou! That's right, you did mention you were having trouble uploading. I actually see the same thing if I try to upload directly from the community page. 🤔🤔

We use a third party tool to reply to this forum, and I'm not entirely sure how one is supposed to be able to upload from your end. I'll have to check with the community managers tomorrow!

I'm also going to have to run a couple of tests in my account, then check with the team to see what the expected behavior should be with item synching. I've been meaning to recreate my test site, so this works out great for me as well. ☺️

I'll let you know what I find out!

Okay.. well, I found out that custom attributes do not sync over to Square Online at this time. 😟 I don't see this on the immediate road map, however, you are more than welcome to submit this as a Feature Request. on the Ideate board

There is and option to add a nutritional value section to the items on your Square Online website. You would need to edit each individual item on the Square Online dashboard under Items > Site Items. You would need to click on each item, change the item type to Prepared Food and Beverage, then edit the nutritional value section.

I'm sorry this is probably not the response you are looking for, but I hope the information at least clears up any confusion. 😊
