Development Timeline
Hey guys,
I have a bit of a running list of issues and keen to see how your development team may be tracking in terms of fixes-
Let me know if you reckon there are work-arounds or existing solutions ..
- Ability to add 'Sections' to the retail template therefore allowing us to create an entirely custom shop page. At the moment the Retail template is very limited and impossible to customise.
- Ability to rename the pages 'Shop All' and 'Order Online'
- Australian GST tax issue whereby reciepts issued to customers show $0 meaning we need to manually print a docket from our terminal and and send with all shipped items
- 'Custom Colour' option in ALL design sections should include a colour pallet. Currently it only allows uses to select from about four randomly generated theme colours.
- Ability to allocate different delivery fees for different post codes.
- Ability to automatically generate and send a PDF Tax Invoice with every sale. I understand 'Email receipt' is an option however the customer needs to screenshot the email on their end in order to create a file to upload into their accounting software. Bit of a headache really and doesn't look very professional from our businesses perspective. Perhaps a Xero integration could be evolved whereby every sale creates an Invoice within Xero? Perhaps not suitable for hospitality business's due to high volume of transactions although for a professional services business like ours it would be useful.

Thanks for getting in touch and providing this feedback about Online Store and the features you'd like to see down the track!
While we don't have a public development timeline to share, we track feedback on all our products via a number of means, including feedback we receive on our Seller Community forums. We can't guarantee if and when a given feature may be developed, however much of what is developed is driven by user feedback
Square Online Store is largely designed as a simple, template based web store builder, so some features you've listed may be more likely in the future than others. The GST tax listing on the receipt is something we've heard a lot of feedback about in Australia, and continue to pass feedback to the eCommerce team about. The workaround here at the moment may be one you're familiar with if you're already using Square POS or dashboard to send receipts, which is to email or SMS a receipt from Square Dashboard upon request.
Allocation of different delivery fees based on location should actually be live as per our June update, however I just checked and was not able to find this option - I'm going to raise this as a bug presently, this appears to have only recently occurred.
Our team is continuing to focus on adding and refining Online Store features, keep an eye on this forum for announcements, we'll continue posting updates as they occur!

I suppose a key item for us it I be able to add sections to the Shop All page.
the ‘Order Online’ template allows sections, but the Shop All template does not.
Could this be a bug?

I've confirmed with our eCommerce team that at the moment you can't add sections to the "Shop All" template - this isn't a bug, but how the platform has been built. I've passed your feedback on though, I agree that having more customisation options here and parity with how "Order Online" works would be very helpful and offer added usability for retail focused sellers!
I will keep you updated about different delivery fees for different delivery areas - this is something that should be available.

I don't have a specific reason for this unfortunately, only confirmation that it's not currently available.
Expanding on customisation options in general is something that's in the development pipeline - while I don't have any insight into what this may look like and when changes may occur, I've passed your feedback on to the team for consideration.

Heads up the distance-based delivery fee issue we saw last week has been resolved, though this is based on a delivery radius rather than post code selection.

Unfortunately some of the features I've mentioned above are a bit of a deal breaker for us and I've decided to move our business to a different E-Commerce product from mid- August.
