If you mean 'Tap to Pay', in that you can take payments directly on your phone, then you don't need to carry the reader. In my experience (on Android). Ive found that Tap to Pay is a little hit and miss,, mainly due to me not knowing exactly where the 'reader' is.
If you've tested it, and it works reliably, then you should be fine.
One other note - some customers still get a little weirded out when you take a payment using only your phone.
