Hey @IlyasMI,
Thanks for getting in touch!
Square readers are not able to be updated via Windows unfortunately - they need to be connected to a compatible mobile device.
It's odd that you're seeing issues with a firmware update on mobile though. Can you let me know what device you're using an what version of the operating system you're on?
Is there an update available for the app at all, or can you let me know what version of the app you're using?
Square, Australia

Hi Seamus, It appears I may have wasted your time & you haven't fully understood my question! I am able to connect the Square Chip Card Reader VIA Bluetooth to my Samsung Phone and successfully carry out EFTPOS transactions. The issue that had arisen (and still remains) is that my Windows 7 (Ultimate) Desktop PC no longer (fully) recognises the Square Chip Reader due to the device files failing to install correctly. However since posting this problem yesterday I have found that I'm still able to process EFTPOS payments VIA the Bluetooth connection between my mobile phone and the Card Reader and that the Card Reader (dock) still charges the Card Reader via the USB connection to my PC. As such I can fully utilize the Card Reader at the moment and if need be I could use an alternative connection for recharging the Card Reader. But anyway, thanks for your reply.
