Update was not installed on Square Terminal

The machine kept saying that update was not installed. May I ask how I can deal with it?

Thanks for reaching out โ€” happy to help with getting that update pushed through on your Square Terminal!

Square Terminal is designed to update automatically every 2โ€“8 weeks, typically overnight at 3 a.m. (local time) to avoid disrupting business hours. To ensure updates go through, make sure your device is:

- Plugged into power

- Turned on (sleep mode is okay โ€” just donโ€™t power it off)

- Connected to the internet

- At or above 35% battery

If an update didnโ€™t complete, you should see an on-screen prompt to install or defer the update. You can defer for up to 7 days, but in some cases, youโ€™ll need to tap Install Now to proceed.

If youโ€™re not seeing any prompts, we recommend restarting your Square Terminal using the steps in this troubleshooting guide.
