The machine kept saying that update was not installed. May I ask how I can deal with it?

Thanks for reaching out — happy to help with getting that update pushed through on your Square Terminal!
Square Terminal is designed to update automatically every 2–8 weeks, typically overnight at 3 a.m. (local time) to avoid disrupting business hours. To ensure updates go through, make sure your device is:
- Plugged into power
- Turned on (sleep mode is okay — just don’t power it off)
- Connected to the internet
- At or above 35% battery
If an update didn’t complete, you should see an on-screen prompt to install or defer the update. You can defer for up to 7 days, but in some cases, you’ll need to tap Install Now to proceed.
If you’re not seeing any prompts, we recommend restarting your Square Terminal using the steps in this troubleshooting guide.
