Square website issues with embedding rollover or pop up appointment booking

I am trying to make Setmore or Appointedd work with Square since they haven't been able to make the appointment scheduling software available to UK customers after so many years. I have found that the feature where you click a button to book an appointment and you get "Overlay a booking window on top of my website" or a "popover" does not work with the Square website.

I tried to contact support, but it's too frustrating after waiting for half an hour in the queue. So I tried to troubleshoot it myself. As I have multiple sites, with multiple platforms, I just inserted into WordPress and it worked straight away. Then I tried a few other site builders, and it worked on them straight away.

So, I am wondering is this a known issue with Square, if so why isn't it written when you do the integration that those features won't work. And if it is supposed to work, can someone who works for Square tell me why it isn't working?

Thanks.

Hi @RyanUK, really sorry to hear this! I can definitely take a further look into this for you but before I do so, can you let me know:

  • The code that you are trying to insert into the Square Online site
  • Where you were pasting the code into - was it under Website > Integration or are you using a different field?
  • The exact error message you are getting.

These information will give us a better understanding of the issue and help speed the investigation!

I am using the embed widget. Like it says in the help articles.

The truth is before I got your reply I had decided to abandon Square for the website and only use it for taking payments. I have used Wordpress for more than 10 years, on many websites. I never got so frustrated before as I have with Square. And I am not even trying to do anything complicated.

So, I have one question left. If I used Appointedd to take payments using Square. And I take 50% online via another website, not Square. I am now looking to use Square for online payment processing. How, would I take the remaining 50% in-person using the square card reader since most of the calendar booking apps don't really sync with square products? Would I need to create duplicate products on square and remember to take the payment, or would I use the Appointed app to take the other 50%?

Thank you for your reply @RyanUK.

I can see another seller has replied to your question as well. If you are looking to take payments in person with Square, you can either type in a custom amount and add the note to sale so you know which customer the payment was for, or you can create items on Square and select them when taking payments.
