Bulk update "Where it's sold" option

Hi,

I have recently setup a new location and website and I am using the Square Online system for the first time.

I have transferred stock across to the new location but none of it is showing on the website despite setting the site visibility. Upon further inspection, the option "Where it's sold" is still in the off position for this location.

I don't seem to be able to find a way to update this in mass via the inventory management system or the via the spreadsheet. Am I missing an option somewhere or is this now a manual process for my 2000+ items?

I have updated the item defaults so that any new items from now on will have this setting enabled, but would be nice to be able to go back and retrospectively apply it.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi @NortonTCG ๐Ÿ‘‹ thanks for flagging this.

There are a few settings that could cause what you've described, you've checked off a couple so let's run through the rest:

Stock count: If there's no stock listed for some items, be sure that stock numbers are added to those items if marking them as Visible doesn't display them on your site. To add stock to your items:

  1. From your Square Item Library, select an existing item.

  2. In the Variations section, select Manage stock.

  3. In the popup window, toggle on Tracking.

  4. Select a restocking preference to update from the Select reason dropdown menu.

  5. Enter a number to manage the stock and select Done.

  6. Select Save when finished.

Location settings: Square Online doesn't sync item stock from mobile locations, so items only available at a mobile location will be marked as Unavailable on your site. To resolve:

  1. From your Account & Settings page, go to Business information > Locations.

  2. Select your mobile location.

  3. Change the Location type to Physical location.

  4. Select Save when finished.

Feature Items: If you've added a featured items' section to your website but havenโ€™t added any items to display on it, then the items won't appear online. To resolve:

  1. From your Square Online site editor, select the section with featured items on it.

  2. Select the button in the editing panel to choose your items and tick all the items you want to feature in the section.

  3. Select Save when finished.

  4. Publish your site to see the changes live.

If after checking these settings you are still having trouble, please share a link to your site here and confirm the location you are syncing stock from, I'll be able to take a closer look then.

Hi @Breffni

I think I may've explained this poorly.

The issue lies with stock that already exists in my old location and I am now adding it to the new. Updating the location on mass is easy, but you can't do this with the "Where it's sold" section or the online sales channels.

Any new lines are automatically added, as that has been setup, but retrospectively going back and saying, I want all 2,323 items to be pushed to this new Square website I made, is a laborious process and will mean I have to individually edit 2,323 items to make it a reality.

Hope that makes more sense.

Thanks,

Ben

I completely misread your post somehow @NortonTCG, sorry about that! You explained it well in your first post.

I had a look at the bulk update tool within Square Online and also a downloaded CSV version of the item library as you did, but I couldn't find an edit option for this feature either.

I've reached out to the Square Online team for confirmation here though and to see if they have any potential workarounds. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back!
