Reader Reports
Is anyone aware of how you can print sales reports if you are using a Square Reader for payments?
We have a restaurant with indoor seating, as well as an outdoor patio, and I am looking at purchasing 2 Readers for the servers to use on the patio. Right now at the end of each shift the staff will print off a sales report from the iPad (for cash payments) and a sales report from the terminal (for card payments) and with those two reports we can see what their tip outs will be for that shift. I'm just wondering if there is a way to print off a sales report for the Reader during the day to determine this, or if it has to be done through the dashboard?

Hey there, @cassb22 👋,
Thanks for reaching out to us with this question!
As I'm understanding it, are you exclusively using the iPad for cash payments and the Square Terminal for card payments? Additionally, are you using Square for Restaurants on your devices or Square Point of Sale?
Currently via the Square Point of Sale app, you can filter Sales Reports to show 'All Devices' or only 'This Device', however, you're not able to filter by source. This reporting filter is only available via the online Square Dashboard. I recommend taking a look at end of day reporting with Square for Restaurants to learn more about how you can tip out team members through Shift Reports.
Another alternative to Square for Restaurants would be Team Management. When using this add-on, you're able to filter sales by team member and manage tip pooling within your team.
I'll keep a lookout for your reply in the meantime. Feel through to send through any other questions.

Hi Laurie,
Yes we use the ipad for cash sales and the terminal for card payments. In this instance we use the Square for Restaurants app on the ipads and the terminals I believe are standard POS.
So from what you're saying with the Square Point on Sale app, when I'm printing the sales report from the terminals and I switch the setting to 'All Devices', would that include the sales from the Reader as well?

Got it, thanks for confirming @cassb22!
In our system, we consider a device as any point of sale hardware that is currently logged into a Square account. For example, if you have an iPad logged into a Square account and connected to a Square Reader, the iPad itself is considered the device, not the Square Reader. If you use the same device (e.g., an iPad point of sale) to process both cash and card payments, your Sales Summary will include all transactions processed through that device, regardless of the payment method. It's not possible to generate a Sales Summary to only show payments processed using the Square Reader from your app.
However, when you generate reports from your online Square Dashboard, you have the option to apply filters based on the payment method and source. These filters can help you separate your cash and card payments from a single device, allowing you to view and analyze them separately.
I hope this information helps!
