I am having a problem with my Reader not being able to read a Debit card when inserted into reader.

My card reader will process a Debit "Tap" payment up to $100. If I try to process another Debit Tap from the same card for a different amount the reader will not accept the 2nd payment.

 

Additionally I am having issues with the reader not accepting Debit payments when inserted in the reader. I get the message "Please try inserting again, chip could not be read,โ€.   I have tried pulling the card out and then reinserting at least 2-3 more times with no success. This has happened on at least 4 debit card transactions this week alone. 

 

In order to even get the reader to work properly I had to install, uninstall and then reinstall the app 3 times. 

 

I have read the suggestions recommended to previous owners on this site. I will remove the reader from the dock and see if that helps with the next debit transaction I try to process.

Hey @rocam3202 - If the cards are Interac debit cards, they can only be accepted via tap for up to $100. The $100 payment limit for Interac cards is a security measure designed to protect your customers in case their cards are lost or stolen. We ask that you donโ€™t use Split Tender to break up a transaction over a single card to avoid the $100 limit.
