Cannot use the Reader for a Golf Club

We are trying to use the Square Up system for accepting Credit Card Transactions on the Course. We have a Drinks Cart and sell Food and Drinks from the cart around the Course. Setting up the Square Up system on the Ipad and wanting to get the Reader to accept Credit Cards, but our ACN is for an Incorporated Body, which Square does not support. How do we get past this. We need to be able to accept CC on the Reader. This is not in any documentation. Can anyone help please?

Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you're having trouble setting up your account.

 

If your ABN is for an "Other Incorporated Entity", unfortunately this is among ABNs we are not currently able to on-board for payment processing at the moment. You can find more on this here.

 

I know it's disappointing that your organisation is not able to currently sign up for payment processing and this is something we hope to be able to do for more ABN types in the future. If you have already purchased hardware through Square you can find more on returning it here, or if you've purchased anything from a retailer you can return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Hi Seamus, 

 

Another NFP here little upset we cannot use Square! 

 

After getting rejected we are notified " Square can work as your point-of-sale solution. You can record cash sales, manage inventory, run powerful sales reports and analytics, send digital receipts and more" 

 

So i asked how we go about setting up Square to be able to record transactions and use with third part EFT machine. I also asked if we can use the functionality of the Gift Cards. 

Response " The messaging you have received in regards to being able to use the Square Point of Sale application. Means you can use it to record sales which have been processed via a cash payment or other tender e.g. EFT, check. " 

 

But in testing I cannot record a purchase as when i do it attempts to open a virtual terminal. 

 

Can you provide some instructions to use Square for recording transaction without the payment function? Can we use gift cards?  Thanks

Hey @SDAB,

 

You can read more on how to use Square to track/record payments here - this would generally be done on the Point of Sale app rather than the online Dashboard!

 

Use of Square's Gift Card system is unfortunately tied to being activated for card payment processing, so you'd need to use a non Square gift card system at the moment. As per my message in the other thread, we're working on a solution for club, association and NFP ABNs, so hopefully we'll be able to improve this situation in the future!

I absolutely know you cannot give a fixed time frame, but.... would you consider solution to be in the near, medium or long term future?

I'm hoping it will be medium term - in a perfect world I would love for a process to be in place before the end of the year, though in reality I don't know how long it will all take to execute on a technical level!
