The recent coursing update for Square for Restaurants is causing some problems for us.
- Being able to touch a course to add items directly to it is very helpful, and a nice improvement! But, being limited to a max of 10 courses is not ideal, and the functionality to add a course is really cumbersome. There used to be an "add course" button that would just add the next course in the sequence. Now, you have to choose from a list of all courses, which just takes more time when you want to add several at once. (We use courses as dividing lines on our tickets so the kitchen knows which items to "group" onto one plate or basket.)
- We'd love the ability to disable or hide the Straight Fire course, as we don't use this feature - it used to be hidden at the top of the ticket unless you moved items in courses around, but now it always shows up.
- We'd also love the option to set the default starting number of courses - right now, a new ticket automatically opens with 3 courses, but we'd prefer it had a few more to get started, or that creating a new course was as quick as the touch of a single button, as it used to be.
Overall, this update changed the functionality SO MUCH that my staff is feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.
