Weebly not providing product description to Paypal also no address since paypal upgrade

Spoke to Weebly at length about this and they blamed the "new" paypal" API. Contacted paypal and they say no change to API. I am fustrated with Weebly support. Anyone else having this issue? Mine occured on 9-16 when I was forced to do and upgrade to paypal even though I already had a paypal business account.

After reading AHE's post, I suddenly realized that this product information not being transferred over from Weebly to paypal opens up a whole new can of worms for me-  at the end of the year, I import reports from Paypal into Excel and do all of my Tax information based on those reports.  Without that product information being transferred over on what the customer actually purchased, I am going to be in whole world of crap come January! I really was hoping to stay with Weebly because I have had my store for 8 years, but I guess I am going to have to search for a new home base because I can't afford to have this kind of mess on my hands.

@Brodie

I just got off the telephone with Square.  If I were to have my store there, the actual items would show.  However, they cannot change this when the integration is via Weebly.  Therefore, they are referring me to Weebly, as it appears that this is coming from the Weebly end.

I am currently on hold with PayPal and will let you know how that goes.  As of Sunday, September 18th, the descriptions were present for eBay sales.  I do not understand how PayPal will justify them being gone, as sellers will no longer be eligible for seller protection.  I'm currently awaiting payment from an eBay customer, so I will see if the information is there for that transaction.  Again, I will update this info after speaking with someone.

AND... I just got off of the phone with PayPal.  After verifying this information with not one, but TWO reps, PayPal still and always has and will include product descriptions.

This is not a PayPal problem, a Square problem or any other payment processor problem.  It is a Weebly problem. Period.  Now, after waisting the past five or so hours on this, I am taking a break. I am tired of chasing wild geese.

So I'm sorry to say, this is just the way Weebly and PayPal interact now, the same as our other payment processors interact with Weebly - only reporting the transaction total, not the item info. Certainly, the folks here at Weebly are well aware that there are customers who want this option back. I don't have any indication that it's on the immediate horizon or what the ETA would be on bringing that back if it were decided to do so. For now, we have to proceed with the understanding that those item details are in the Weebly receipt, not the PayPal notification, and that it's not scheduled to change back. But we have this thread, we have the Idea Exchange, so it's very clear this is a feature request for our developers to reconsider. Thank you for your feedback and your patience as we work to increase your design and eCommerce options, and handle the issues that come up as we proceed.

Another surprise:

This receipt, what is this $5.00 amount. Where did it come from? 5% discount applied. What are we suppose to do with $5.00?

Customer might think that there are additional $5.00 that should be removed from the price but were not removed by mistake.

@Brodie

This is not acceptable.  ESPECIALLY not for PayPal!  The payment processors and Weebly 'interact' this way now because of the changes Weebly implemented and for no other reason.  As for those of us who have stores on this platform, I can tell you for a fact that this could be detrimental to small and large volume sellers alike.

As stated by other members, PayPal will NOT accept what is on the Weebly documents.  There is no reason these descriptions should be absent in PayPal or elsewhere other than Weebly screwed up and now the sellers will not be protected.

This is not simply "an option" that customers may want; this is an absolute necessity for YOUR customers who have eCommerce through this platform.

My frustration/anger does not lie with you personally, Brodie, but with Weebly in general.  How completely irresponsible to put anyone who has eCommerce through Weebly at risk like this!  As much as I hate to, I will be moving items over to eBay.

And all of this after three months of waiting.  I am NOT happy...to say the very least.

I agree with your statement in total. Please let me know what web hosting provider you find that is sending the correct info to Paypal and Square. It's surprising to me how Weebly thinks this is some nice to have that is optional. On top of that they are very cavalier about it. Where is the leadership at Weebly? Do they have and escalation process? Whay do we not hear from that person?

For the record, in the past my team simply went to Shipstation to process orders from eBay and my 2 websites. You would look at the order list and pick your shiping option and then print 20-50 shipping labels, pack the goods and ship them. Now I am printing my Weebly order notifcations, manually entering them in ship station then running th orders. That is followed by manually entering the order detail in Paypal and Quickbooks. It used to be that I could use Paypal to get data to Quickbooks in electronically. All of this is then follwed by my team manually passing around the printed order and signing off that each step has been completed. If customers want rebates or refunds we go back to the stack of papers to find what was ordered in order to procee refunds or rebates on Paypal.

Does Weebly understand what I just explained?

With Brodies comment above it is clear that I am done doing buinses with Weebly as fast as I can build a new site with another provider.  This is beyond all levels of imaginable ignoarnace in how us small shops run.  The complete disregard for your customers needs in this process stands above all of the other issues the Weebly "upgrades" have caused us over the last few years.

Again Weebly thanks so much for taking thousands of hours building my site with you, running a buisness that is the only provider of food on the table for my family and flushing that.

O an those that are trying to hang in there I also noticed a moment ago that now my order emails from weebly are lacking a quantities field.  So be very mindfull of reliying on weeblys "deal with it" solution, it's a face plant failure as well.

@AHE

Unfortunately, Brodie's answer was the nail in the coffin I was hoping to avoid.  There is quite literally no way they can fix this fast enough.  I have been in tears a few times over the past few days for the simple fact that it took me forever to get my site exactly the way I wanted it and now it is all for naught.

I will now be spending the remainder of my day changing inventory quantities on over 400 items to zero so that nobody purchases anything, then moving items to eBay until I find an eCommerce solution that actually works...if I bother again.

Countless hours, testing and talking to customers all up in smoke in the blink of an eye.  This is a nightmare I truly wish I could wake up from.

Just got this a bit ago from the Paypal Tec Suport that has been chatting with me the last few days.

"I have been monitoring the situation with Weebly’s new switch to PayPal Express Checkout, and I have some unfortunate news.

At this time, it appears that Weebly does not have plans to change their integration to include the item descriptions, as they did previously. As I mentioned, PayPal has that functionality available in the Express Checkout product, so I am not certain why Weebly has made the choice to omit it. You may have success going through another host...."

This is 100% weebly chosing to not provide the data for transactions to payal. Their way of forcing us to use their services?...Shipping caluclator, quickbooks export, refunds, order tracking, packing slips and so on???? Kind of seems that way to me.

I'm not sure why PayPal would provide information like that, though we are planning on adding product descriptions.  I don't have an ETA on when that will happen, but it's definitely something that we want to add back.

Definitely something you want to bring back but have no ETA?  I sincerely wish that SOMEONE at Weebly had some sort of idea of what is NECESSARY to run an online business.  As I stated before, this is NOT an option and should never in a million years have been omitted from this supposed upgrade.

I want to know -- are the engineers working on this or not?  We deserve to have an answer to this and an estimate of when this will be fixed.  This is one of, if not the biggest, problem for sellers on this platform.

I have spent 2 full days on this.... since the update I have not received any shipping/handling fees as I still had my shipping table on paypal...no warning, no notice just this little update link that has crippled my business. just hung up with weebly now I can no longer use shipstation unless I want to manually enter my orders!!! SERIOUSLY? THey just keep pushing shippo on me. Nothing againts shippo but why do I not get to choose how to run my business anymore??? and seriously no warning or notice?! I havent been able to work for 3 days and I still have no where to ship from as paypal nor shipstation have any item information. I never dreamt this would happen. so sad to have all of your hard work crushed. I have spent hours updating warhouse location on all of my product items in shipstation and they tell me to not use them anymore? what is going on????

So I had this same problem! What weebly DID NOT failed to disclose was that this new "so called" upgrade was a way to make more money. In upgrading the paypal, they no longer allow paypal to pretty much accept the orders. They are doing it through their site only. So that means, if a person pays with paypal you will just see how much they paid and not the actual order. Also, this new "upgrade" will not allow paypal to charge taxes and shipping. Now, this can be done only through weebly which you MUST upgrade to a business account for an extra $300 a year. So lets, see that's $300 times all of weebly's small business owners, which means the company just made a FORTUNE. I HATE WEEBLY and I'm looking for another web company ASAP! This is rip off.

Shipping and taxes are included in any order sent to PayPal - they just are not displayed separately right now.  We're planning on changing that so it's listed separately, but as with product descriptions I couldn't say how long that will take.  Shipping and Taxes are listed separately in the order confirmation email we send out to your customer, and in the order detail page in Store > Orders.

I'm not sure what you mean by "PayPal not accepting" the order.
