unable to modify footer in copy of website (works fine in original)

Hi,

I am working on a website but am not the owner. The owner made a copy of the original website for me to play around with. The original has a custom footer capability but the copy does not. I get the message "editing the footer is not available on your plan."

What I'd like to do is edit the copy of the website until it looks the way we'd like and then give it the domain of our existing site, replacing what we currently have live. Can you let me know what I need to do to modify the footer on the copied website?

Thanks!

We can move the service over for you @ratgrrrl. You may even have a bit of a window where the original site stays published as is. However, I can't guarantee this will happen or provide the timeframe estimate.

I would suggest editing everything you can do on the free plan and then requesting we move the service for you. Once the service is moved you'll be able to edit the footer, favicon, etc. Before we move the service you could even create a pseudo footer by adding a new section to the bottom of the page. That way you can get an idea of what you are going to do with it.

@ratgrrrl:  You can't.  Unless the copied site also has a paid plan associated with it that area is forbidden.

Thank you for your fast response. Do people in my position typically have two paid plans for sites (one live, one backup/redesign)?

If I took the redesigned site live with our domain and unpublished the current site (basically replacing the original with the copy online), would the paid part of the plan still apply only to the original site and not the copy/live one or would it somehow transfer over?

I think our new site is about ready to go. What is the process for moving the service?

Just verify the name of the site you want service removed from and applied to. Smiley Happy

Ah, so I just noticed that your account is a contributor account. You will have to have the account owner submit a support ticket so that an agent can make that change for you. Make sure the request comes from the email we have on file which begins with tamerius.smart@

Sorry for not catching that earlier!

No worries. I just let the account owner know. Thanks!
