Editing forms fields so that no data is saved when submitted

I am building a form for testing purposes that i need to log users ip but NOT any of the other data such as user text input. Is there any way i can break the code for the shot text box when submitting. I know this might sound like a strange request but how would i keep certain input items from writing data anywhere

I'm not sure if this is possible @jlovik Unless someone else has a thought on this?
