The following required properties are missing: og:type, fb:app_id

I have just seen this "The following required properties are missing: og:type, fb:app_id" and  getting "shop blocked" icons in messages. My site is perfectly fine as for content and but I discovered using the debugger that there is something wrong and I got that message. I am not savvy enough to be able to fix this - can someone tell me if this is Facebook, Weebly, or just me? Can anyone give me simple rules for fixing it? Any help would be most appreciated... Thanks

It's safe to ignore those particular warnings. They won't cause any trouble with Facebook seeing the page you are sharing or getting information from it.

Regarding what you shared in particular, it seemed like Facebook was just pulling a random image that the plugin might be using. A new scrape seems to have fixed that, though:

Those two messages shouldn't affect sharing of pages of your site, @churchmouse. Are you seeing anything weird when sharing your site to Facebook?

Thanks for replying Adam. Yes - I see part of an icon that seems to be "shop blocked". Appears randomly and just don't know how it is impacting the page? very puzzled...imageexample in a message

Which page is that? Do you have any third party embedded code on it?

It was this one Adam: https://www.pipelinepress.com/downloads.html

It has the shopping cart system from ShopIntegrator in it, and I followed their own instructions of how to install in a Weebly site - and I thought the two were quite compatible with each other? Thanks for your help!

Hello! I get the same "shop blocked" message on the image in my ShopIntegrator links from my website when I post to Facebook. It isn't in the preview as I compose the post, only after I hit "post" on Facebook. Can you tell me what the solution is? I didn't understand from the previous message in this thread, I'm sorry. I've resorted to using a separate image file and the plain cart URL from ShopIntegrator (it doesn't look very nice). Thanks so much for your help! ~Adrienne (http://publications.pianolex.com)

The original question about "The following required properties are missing: og:type, fb:app_id" is only relevant if you have a mobile app. I can see your preview image showing in the Facebook Debugger tool. Can you please clarify the problem you are having? Thanks!

Hello moderators! I am having problems with my website when sharing on Facebook, there is no image and the name doesn't update, it's 2018 on the title when it was meant to be 2020...on FB debugger I also get the message: "The following required properties are missing: og:type, fb:app_id"

Can you help me with that? What should I do? I have zero programming knowledge. This is my website: http://aohkarlskrona.weebly.com/

Many thanks!

I checked your site using Facebook's debug tool and it seems to pulling an image for it, @Narayan. Those warnings shouldn't affect it displaying properly with shares.

Thank you for the reply. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But the most important thing is the title. It still says "Welcome to Art of Hosting Karlskrona 2018", when the title is actually "Welcome to Art of Hosting Karlskrona 2020". How can this be fixed?

Many thanks,

Narayan

It looks like your home page still has "2018" as part of the page title on the Pages tab. I would change that, publish, then use Facebook's tool to scrape the site again.

Hi @lgoodwin You can use this code to Settings>SEO>Header:

<meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/rock.jpg" />

Just make sure to replace the content url with the url path of the image you wish to use. After you add the code to Settings>SEO>Header make sure to hit the save button in the bottom right corner, then re-publish the site.
