Parallax with Safari on iPad

I've noticed that images set to parallax don't work properly on Safari on iPad. This has been happening for at least a few months on a few sites that I've made.

When viewing these parallax images on Safari on iPad it's only showing a static, tiny part of the image, and just looks odd.  (I'm not talking about the 3D scrolling effect, I know that only seems to work on Windows/Mac.)

It works fine on Chrome on iPad. And also works fine on Safari on iPhone.

The issue is specific to Safari on my iPad, on both landscape and portrait. I've tried clearing iPad cache etc, rebooting, but no luck.I have iPad 5th gen, iOS 13.5.1)

Are other people getting this? Any advice from anyone would be very welcome, particularly Adam or any other Mod.

Thanks.

Are you able to provide some screenshots?

Sure, here's a few screenshots from my iPad. You can see that only a small portion of the image is showing.

They are from one of the websites I made (www.annaconstantine.com), but not the only site I've had a problem with.

BTW i've asked a couple of other people and they have the same issue with their iPads.

Thanks

Simon

If you switch to a different theme does it behave differently? If you don't want to change the theme of this site to test you can make a copy and test with that.

Sorry for delayed reply.

It happens with every theme - I've built quite a few websites using diff themes - the issue is the same...

I've just been researching this and discovered what the problem is.

I think this is really important for all Weebly staff and users to know what's happening:

IOS 13 (released in Sept 2019) makes Safari on iPads default to 'desktop view'.

If you go into settings/safari/request desktop website you can toggle it off. On doing so, then refreshing those websites, all of a sudden you can see the whole of those parallax images, rather than just a tiny zoomed portion.

Can someone at Weebly edit the coding to overcome this issue? Otherwose parallax mode is completely useless on all of your templates. There's a lot of people out there viewing websites on iPads, so it's pointless designing a website that doesn't look right on them.

Ipad 5th gen.

A friend has new ipad Pro, same thing happening.

I don't think the ipad model is relevant..

Sometimes Apple will make distinctions in settings and functions between different generations, although that doesn't look to the be case here. Have you contacted our support team? This is something they will need to escalate to our engineering team.

Yes, I have contacted the support team but nothing seems to have happened.

Could you please escalate it to your engineering team?

What website is this happening with?

Every website where images are set to parallax, and iPad Safari has defaulted to 'request desktop site'.

Eg..www.drcarlykeyes.com, https://www.annaconstantine.com

I've already been over this and given the same examples above, and tons of info. Kinda feels like I'm going round in circles here......

I was going to verify that your support ticket is in the proper queue, but I don't see anything submitted by the email address for your account. I also tried searching the specific website url examples you provided, but nothing is pulling up. Did you use a different email address?

I'm not sure if it would matter, but does it do anything different if you switch from portrait mode to landscape, or vice versa?

No it doesn't make a difference.

This has been dragging on for a long time..can someone at Weebly please fix this bug?

I don't see any cases from you with our support team about this in specific, @SimonM; can you submit one about this issue to our support team? They can escalate it to our Advanced Support team so they can make a bug ticket with our engineers.
