How can I edit the HTML and CSS code of my website?

[Note: The title of this post has been updated by a moderator.]

I was doing some searching about customizing the footer on my website. I found some information from May 2019 about Weebly having a code editor. Where can I find this? I don't see it as an option while editing the site.

Yes, I am using the embeded code page templates and they work great, but the standard footers are not what I need.

Thought?

You are correct, @Burnt_Pixel. The editor you are using is the Square Online editor and does not allow access to the backend html/css area. I don't know if we have plans to allow access from this editor, but you can sign up through Weebly with a different email address. Just make sure to choose the option "not selling at this time" in order to receive the older editor. You will still have access to all of the store features even if you state you are not selling. Apologies for the confusion!

With the classic Weebly drag and drop editor, you can edit your HTML and CSS by going to the Theme tab of the editor, then clicking on Edit HTML / CSS.

Hi @katay I've refunded the charge for you. If you need access to the older editor you can sign up with a different email and make sure to choose the option that says you are "not selling" right now. You can then upgrade back to the plan you were on.

Thank you @Bernadette ,

everything is ok, also with refund already back on account. But would you be so kind to send us credit note or official

paper for accounting?

Hi Bernadette,

Can you please help me. I signed up to weebly through square thinking it would allow me to do basic things such as changing the colour of font, adding more colours and upload video.

But now it looks like I need to create a seperate weebly account to have the old editor to do this? Can you please confirm.

1. Can you please give me a refund for what I have paid so far. Such false advertising.

2. Can you give me step by step instructions on what I need to do to have the old editor? Do i need to create a new weebly account? How do I disconnect my domain from my current account and add it to the new account that I am creating??

Thanks,

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. It's not possible to access the theme code with the new editor at this time, although you should be able to add a specific font color using a color hex code. You should also be able to upload videos with Youtube, or by using the Embed Code section to display video from a third party source like Vimeo. What are your plans with the site? The Square sync features and over-all ecommerce features are going to be more robust with the newer editor. The older editor, while allowing for more customization, will not sync to Square (like inventory) and does not have Instagram/Facebook shopping integration.

If you still prefer using the older editor in order to add more customization you will need to create a brand new Weebly account using a different email address. When you sign up, make sure to choose the option that says you are "not selling" in order to get the older editor experience. Once the new account is setup we can move the service and domain to the new account.

Can you please priortize this as a request.  I've found so many features that "the new editor" doesn't allow - HTML/CSS editing, APP integration.  This is getting a bit rediculous, I'm considering a move back to Shopify if these sort of basic features (features which you gleefully promote in your feature pages) are not supported.

I have just created a site and need to delete it so that I can create one where I have access to the code editor. However, there is no option for me to delete my site and start over, nor for me to create an additional new site. Please help.

Hi @dhawkins1 you are using our new editor that does not have access to edit the html at this time. What are you trying to edit exactly?

Hello Bernadette! I have to edit the menu of my theme, to make it connect to anchor links on the home page instead of subpages. I do not have a webshop. Can it be true that weebly cannot adapt the navigation menu?

I'm not sure what you mean, exactly, @ahab. Are you trying to customize the navigation menu of a site?

Yes. I have selected a theme that was close to what was looked for. But now I want to customize the menu, and I cannot access it; in fact, I cannot access the full html of the home page either. The classic button HTML / CSS just offers parts of the page. @Adam5

Check the navigation option under Partials, @ahab - you should see more parts of the navigation there which you can edit.

Welcome to the Community, @Amberball. Thanks for making a post!

The Square Online editor does not currently provide access to edit the HTML and CSS. Hopefully this is something we can add in the future, though!
