Copy/Paste function not working

Hi

This only happened last night so not sure if this is a temporary glitch.

The paste function for text isn't working. I can copy the text and paste it anywhere else but it won't show up in Site Editor.

This seems to be a Firefox issue as I can paste text in Chrome - the problem is Chrome doesn't seem to like Weebly Editor much at the moment and keeps stalling/freezing etc so I need to use Firefox, ideally.

Issue is with both Paragraph Text & Paragraph Title - neither can be copied and pasted within the Editor.

Has anyone else had this issue and/or knows how to fix it?

Thanks

Sorry I did not update what I found.

1. I agree it is a weebly issue - meaning they have yet to address.

2. I found a solution for me on a Mac ... simple Command + Shift + V and it works just like Command + V

Then issue is not unique to you. Starting in mid-July, I could not copy text from Word and paste into Weebly. Today is August 3 and I still cannot do it. I am very disappointed.

It happened to me too. So I knew this little trick I used on blogger when having the same problem some time go, and it worked!

The problem in my case was the font, so from Word (font was Calibri) I copied my text to something simplier like the text file, or the bloc-notes, then selecting the whole document and changing the font to a universal font like "Times New Roman" or "Arial". From there, I copied the text to Weebly and it worked (if it does not work, try removing all rich text formats, hot links, etc). Some text processors even give you the option to paste raw text, rather than switching to html format, so is always better to work (write) as raw as possible, and once is done you can do all the formats to your text that you want, directly from Weebly.

Also, is a good idea to delete (Firefox) the cache and the Offline Website Data, since some pages like Weebly (openned from Firefox) remain stuck at certain point, even if you refresh the page.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Alex

Copy and paste does not work in Firefox. Quote from Weebly Support after I tested in Chrome and Brave ...

"Thank you for the confirmation.
We have received reports that the issue with copy and pasting is not working for Firefox specifically. It is possible that their new update affected the format. Unfortunately, we cannot narrow down as to wsince Chrome hy exactly because we do not have access to their database. As a work-around, we recommend using Edge or Chrome Smiley Sad"

Unless they recieve several reports - it will be a low priority.

I will use Brave since we all know how invasive Google is ... PLEASE SEND REPORTS TO WEEBLY

It is really not a FF issues, it is a Weebly issue as Weebly should test across multiple platforms.

I really really wish Weebly would get this fixed. I use FireFox and don't intend to change over just for this. It seems like if it used to work using FireFox then it should still work. I use Weebly for housing my stories on their own pages, and this makes it very difficult to write in Open Office then transfer the final "product" to Weebly. Surely there is a way to fix the copy/paste!!

If you do not want to use a different browser you can still use Firefox with "control + shift + V". This will copy/paste your content and also remove formatting, which is actually better since formatted text can cause display issues on the site.

Try the solution that worked for me. Copy-paste your text to a simplier bloc-notes, remove rich text, change font to Times New Roman, and go from there. Any formats (including fonts) to your text work on them directly from Weebly.

Also experiencing this problem. I am a web designer who uses Firefox. My workflow for one client is to copy rich text from a Google Doc into the Weebly editor for blog posts. The paste command in a Weebly text object does nothing. I am only able to paste text after it has been pasted into Notepad as an intermediate step and re-copied as plain text. Of course, any bold/italics/links are then gone and need to be manually added back. Tedious and time consuming.

Weebly folks, please get this fixed before you lose customers. This has been a problem for the last couple months. I keep my software updated [Firefox 91.0.2 (64-bit) on Windows 10 Enterprise v20H2]. I do not have problems copying and pasting across other applications.

Use a third text processor as a bridge, like the bloc-notes, remove any hot links from your text, change to Times New Roman, and finally copy your text from the bloc-notes and paste it to Weebly. Give all the formats you want to your text directly from Weebly, not from Word or any other program.

I use Firefox and this trick solved the problem for me, I hope it works for you.
