Can I change pdf file icons to pictures?

Hi, I'm brand new to the community although I've had my website for a while. 
I just added some free downloads to my page, but I don't like the way they look. It just shows the pdf icon and my description of the downloadable file. Can these pdf icons be replaced to make it all look a little more professional or am I stuck with this look?

Hey there @ute! Thanks for signing up.

You'd probably need to customize your theme to change that, although I think a simpler solution would be to use your own icon with an image element and choose the file upload option making a link from the image.

This should behave basically the same, e.g. click the image and it loads the PDF, except use your image instead.
