Add Google CAPTCHA to forms

Hi community, I can't seem to find the Google Captcha toggle in the email form editor anymore as some of my clients are receiving Spam emails. I know how to turn on Google Captcha in email forms but the Google Captcha option isn't there to turn it on.

I know how to turn it on by going to the editor, then form options and then the Google Captcha toggle should be there to give you the option to turn it on but it isn't.

Please could someone help me.

Regards,

Michael

Thanks for posting, @Michael_Aus. We've actually turned this feature on for all forms and removed the option to disable it. Some older sites may need to re-publish, but other than that you don't need to do anything to have it enabled now.

I've followed the instructions here: https://blog.ivertech.com/blog/how-to-add-recaptcha-to-weebly-contact-form

It's not producing a Captcha.  Even on computers that have never previously browsed the site.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong.  Here's the test form:

Clues?

It looks like you followed the instructions properly. The captcha images will only show when the system detects a possible spam connection. It will not always show up, even if it is the first time visiting the page.

Are you receiving spam submissions through the form even after you enabled it?

When I add CAPTCHA, the form automatically adds in the opt in for marketing.

Maybe this thing was done with the spirit of always doing better for weebly's customers. But many complain about this change and so if the spirit is to do better for the customers then it is right that it is a choice and not an imposition. I noticed that many pages where the contact form is present, even when all the fields are filled in, remain blocked when the enter key is pressed, or a long time passes before the annoying google captcha appears. But the most important thing is that there is a huge drop in the submitted forms. So if the spirit is to stay close to the customer weebly, let the customer determine if he receives spam or not, and then he chooses whether or not to activate google captcha. So Please remove this modification, and insert the possibility to choose if enable it or not, as before.

If you haven't published recently I would re-publish your site. My guess is enabling the feature may have caused some issues with forms on sites that haven't been published since it was enabled. We wouldn't want to auto-publish for people since we wouldn't want to make content live that a site owner wasn't ready to publish.

'since we wouldn't want to make content live that a site owner wasn't ready to publish.'

Adam, that statement makes little to no sense since you seem to have no problem automatically enabling CAPTCHA on every form with no notice to any designers or site owners. Isn't that considered making content live that the site owner wasn't ready (or aware of) on the next publish?

Captcha is killing our enquiry - this move to make it mandatory is completely unacceptable by Weebly.

There are plenty of other Apps for forms that will do the trick.

Our engineers just added the toggle for this again - if you check your forms in the editor you should be able to disable the captcha again.

I have toggled Google Captcha "on" and also re-published my site but the Captcha is not showing up in my contact form. Suggestions? We are getting spam.

Hi @Jo22 Usually captcha won't show unless there is suspicious behavior. Did you publish the site after turning on the captcha?

I turned on the captcha inside the Weebly forms, and was initially puzzled at it not showing up (I need to show the client that I turned it on) ... but then opened Firefox, dumped the cache and like magic, the captcha shows up.

Yay!  Hope this hint helps anyone else out there with the same question.

Adam: This is driving me crazy. I absolutely detest Google Captcha. Please give us the option again as quickly as possible.

Here's a free service that allows to turn on Captcha conditionally: https://blog.ivertech.com/blog/how-to-install-ivertech-spam-free-contact-code-on-weebly They use Artificial Intelligence to fight spam and you can just embed their code on your Contact Us page on Weebly.  Not only does this solution stop spam bots, it also stop actual humans from submitting spam messages.
