If I want to create a header image where do I find the header sizes so that I can create the right sized banner header?

Generally speaking, images that are 2000 pixels wide and 1000 pixels high work best for header or section background images, although it varies depending on how much content you've added to the section and what the actual content of your image is.
Section and Header areas are designed so that the image will automatically fill the entire area. Sometimes you might need to edit your image to add more negative space around the edges to make the image appear smaller (in situations where you want a specific part of the image to always show). It also might be possible to do it through theme customization if you're familiar with CSS and HTML.

I echo the other folks dissatisfaction with the new headers and the inability to put more than one image in it. Can you just give a dimension of the space for the different size headers (in inches) and for the Natural slideshow. I can create the right size image in Photoshop if I know what size space I'm working with.
Thanks,
Cheryl

I marked the post above as a solution - that should hopefully make it easier for people to find it.

Yes this problem is solved for visibility on pc but what about mobile? I know there's a size that shows completely on mobile & pc cause I have some of my banners this size. Problem is I don't know what size it is. I just happened to get lucky with the images I used.

The radically different screen ratio of a mobile device can sometimes make header images display different. Imagine turning your desktop computer's monitor on its side and think about how much less horizontal space there would be- header areas would become taller so what parts of a background image displayed would change.

This header situation is so time consuming and just a guessing-game; not a fun game.
I have spent two days trying eveything to get my header photo looking how I want it to. It has a mind of its own. So fustrating. Same image, same size etc and took me 1 upload to get the exact look I wanted on Wix.

The thread is marked "solved" because the original poster had their own particular issue solved. You're welcome to make a new thread regarding your own header image, @aaa2.

Maybe Weebly would pay more attention if the question asked is why is something so difficult on Weebly when it's so easy on Wix?
That might get their attention and make them write a proper explanation of how to size banners.
I tried one of the so-called solutions and while it looks fine on desktop - it totally does NOT work in mobile view

If you go into the Theme HTML and scroll down to Tall Header settings (or whatever size header you're looking for)... see "Page Type: Tall Header."
There is an "em" height size in that section. Mine was "30em", which (after a Google search) I found out is 496px.
So, then I tried 1768x496, which someone else recommended. And it worked! Using the Saucy template...

"Edit" the theme's header picture by clicking "Edit Image", then select "Crop" this opens up the crop window for the theme's image - and nice part is in the middle of the image it shows what size it is - then you can size your replacement images to that size - whew! Note though - this is for Weebly through a third party web hosting company - Hostmonster and Blue Nile. They use a version of Weebly that is a little stripped down from the regular Weebly.

I'm trying to use the tall header, 337x968, I've resized my picture and still it's way to big...like it's being zoomed on. Was way easier years ago. What am I doing wrong? I've read a lot but everything I try doesn't work. About to give up

Hi @Sherry1 This theme is pretty old.. I would suggest updating to a newer, responsive theme. That said, the image doesn't look zoomed in to me. Can you please provide a screenshot?

This is crazy. Just spent 3-hours trying to get an image into the banner image box and it STILL isn't right. Weebly, where is your autosizing? where are you guided instructions? I followed numerous 'tips' on this forum and doesn't work.
Also found out that if you put anything numbers and letters in your file name, NOTHING shows up. Plus I tried PNG files and they did not show any better HOWEVER I can not delete them either.
2020 is nearly over and this site is on the level we had in 2005. Really.
