How do I upload an email list in Promote?

I can upload the Example CSV list provided by Weebly, but even if I set up my list exactly the same as that it won't work for my list. A= Email B=First name C=Last Name. I just switched to the new Microsoft Excel.

Hey @VClark.  Are you exporting your Excel file to a CSV and uploading that, or trying to upload the excel file itself?

When I have trouble with a CSV import, I like to import it to a Google spreadsheet and review it for any errors, then download that as new CSV to import.

What kind of errors would cause the file not to upload?  I have a csv file that opens find in google sheets but when I try to upload to promote I get a "unlisted, will not import" error. I previously successfully uploaded csv files.

What kind of changes did you make to the CSV from the last time you uploaded one, @kklyczek?

This is a new file - typed into Excel, saved as csv. Didn't do anything different this time that I can tell.

It sounds like there must be something a little different with this one, although it's hard to say from the error.

Do you have one of your old CSVs that you know worked? Can you try editing that to see if it works better?

Pasting the new entries into the old file did not work, but re-typings them into the old file did.  Maybe there was an unusual character in the original list? Anyway, it did work, so thanks!

Sounds like that's what might have happened.  Glad to hear it's working! Robot Happy

For other people with this problem:

If you copy email addresses from Microsoft products such as Word, they can contain characters that don't work.

Dash is one of those, as are quote marks.

Copying an email from the sender box, or "To" or CC should work fine.
