Can I get a free or cheap permanent domain name on Weebly?
I'm looking to build a tribute site. It's not a business, so I don't plan to make any money from it. In the free version, the "weebly" in the URL looks unprofessional, and I don't want the site to look "cheap" with it. So I want my want a domain name without the "weebly" in it.
I know the Weebly options for a domain name is free for a year. But is there any way I can get a free or cheap domain name permanently - or for, at least, the next several years?

Hello roux! Domains are registered for a certain period of time, so getting one permanently in one go would be a bit tricky.
If you're looking for an inexpensive way to set up a domain, and aren't looking to place a hosting plan along with it, you may want to consider simply registering the domain from your Domains tab directly. That way, you wouldn't be paying for any features you didn't intend to use.

To coin a phrase - "You may be putting the cart before the horse" when you request a "freeby" based on nothing more than the word "tribute" 🙂
I would respectfully suggest that you build at least a basic outline of a who/what tribute website first which you can do with a free plan, and then start asking for some assistance. Speaking as someone who is very involved in the "non-profit" and charity fields I can tell you that there are some limited sources of grant funds available to help but you need to first show that what you are trying to accomplish is in the public interest. If you can do that then feel free to pm me.
Who is the "tribute" to?

Hi @roux,
I think some domain registrars offer cheaper services to not-for-profit organisations - maybe you could register with one of them.
Best of luck.
