Can I use Square to set up a prepaid system?

Hi everyone. 
So our coffee bar has a lump-sum payment system other than the regular payment system. We basically want to load the prepaid amount into the square system and then as people buy goods want it to be deducted from the prepaid amount. Does anyone know how to set such a system or add the prepaid details to square?

That's an interesting way to process payments, I don't think I've ever visited a coffee shop that offers this. I imagine you have a large number of loyal customers. Currently we don't offer the ability to create a credit for a customer and have it automatically deducted. Although I think you could achieve something similar using Square Gift Cards. 

When you load a Square Gift Card the funds used to purchase the gift card will be deposited in 1-2 business days. After this your customers can use the gift card to make purchases at the shop and you'll be able to track all of your inventory and item sales still!

I have this same issue, I run a massage & yoga studio and people can buy a "class pass" that I need to load onto the system and deduct from as they show up for class.

If it's of any help, here's what we do... It's not ideal, but until I find something better... I looked at the gift card option, but it was too cumbersome for me... And it was going to shave off a % with each subsequent transaction.

We offer prepaid skate sharpening packages. So somewhat similar.

I setup a custom field in square and I use it to track how many they have left... Each time I change it... So I have to use the edit feature for the customer field and change it.. I do this because i have multiple locations and they can't see each others historical transactions... Otherwise I would probably just lookup the last transaction and see how many are left... More below on that.

To report to the customer how many they have left, I setup modifier named "remaining", each one says "X remaining"... 10, 9, 8 etc down to zero. I also have an item i use called Prepaid redemption, which is basically a zero cost item, 

When a customer comes in I select Prepaid redemption, choose the option they chose, and then use the modifier to choose how many are remaining, and it shows on the receipt which I text to the customer. 

I also have modifiers setup for upsells that are not covered by their package.

Hope this might help someone... It would be awesome if square had a drop down or system for prepaid services.
