How do you set up an SSL certificate when using a custom domain from Squarespace?

Hi

I am frantic with this now! My webpage has been down for a week now!

I am trying to connect my domain name that I own with squarespace to my square website. I finally worked out the dns settings and added that. Then after 48 hours it still isn't connected. Squarespace support replied and said

"It looks like there is an issue with the SSL certificate for the site."

"I recommend contacting your web host for support regarding the SSL certificate."

Of course there is no support available over the weekend, which was my problem last weekend too! I am loosing clients and sales and I am desperate to get it fixed.

Is this SSL thing something I can change or add to enable my domain name to finally connect?

Domain name is thepiersinglady.co.uk

Thank you so much to anyone that can offer any help!

Hi @shickson, thanks for reaching out to us!

Domain and SSL connections can definitely be tricky, so I’m happy to help clarify things and walk you through the next steps!

Since you're using a custom domain purchased through Squarespace, and you want it to point to your Square Online site (not a Squarespace website). That means Squarespace is the domain registrar, but Square is the website host.

Square will provide the SSL certificate for your site — but only once the domain is correctly connected to Square Online.

If the domain isn’t pointing properly to Square’s servers, the SSL certificate can’t be issued, which results in errors like “This item is not available at this location” or "SSL not active."

You'll need to complete the steps under Connect your third-party domain to make sure your Squarespace domain correctly point to your Square Online site. This will ensure everything, including your SSL certificate, is set up properly.

Let us know if you need further support reviewing your DNS settings!
