Viewing Card on file charges

I invoiced a client and she agreed to put her card on file for payment of future sessions. On the second invoice (different amount from the first) it asked to send an email notice to her when I charged her card.

 

However, on my end, the only notice I received was an email when it was paid. There is no record of the invoice or payment in sales. I finally found the payment under the transfer report, but it didn't indicate the client who the transfer belonged to nor did it reference an invoice or sale. Because I only had this one instance, I could tell who the payment belonged to, but if I would have had multiple clients on that day, I wouldn't be able to tell what transfers belongs to who (and often the billing amount would be the same).  I must be missing a step on the billing end somewhere, as surely I should be able to somehow connect it to a client?
