I sell jewelry online but would like to sell a few items from a local shop, which will be a permanent location. I would like to set this up as a second location through Square/Weebly, but it is beginning to look more complicated than I thought.
First, when I "match item library," between shop locations, what really happens - does the system suddenly double my inventory of everything?
Second, (though I know this has been asked before) can I simply sell one item from either location one time, and then have it removed from inventory in both places automatically?
I don't know exactly how this is related, but I think I understand that each individual item can only be "in stock" in one location at a time. If this is the case, setting up a "second location" with Square is not really what I want to do. I'm hoping maybe there's been a more recent fix for this.

I see. Then this is something that our eCommerce Team needs to look at to address it. Please reach out by phone when you have a moment by logging into your Square account and heading here.

Hello @Donna04
At this time Inventory in Square is based on a location. This means that when an item is sold it we deducted from the location it existed at. I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers' interest in your request.
Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature will help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).

Thanks @jj
For now, and since I have a small-ish inventory, I'm just going to change all of my items for square to NOT track the stock of each item. I have another program to track stock, and I seem to be able to offer curbside pick up when I turn this off. I went ahead and (smart or not) "shared" my library between locations to see what would happen. I don't really see the difference, so at least no harm, I hope.
I'll have to submit a request later. It does seem like everyone else has already requested the "share between locations" feature, if I may say so, so I don't quite see what the difference will be if I do. It just seems like an obvious thing.

I really don’t know if it’s that important. I wonder if you could offer advice on any of the other questions I had?
At the moment I’m getting lost with this. I thought curbside pick up sounded useful, but it seems to want to assign a time even though I had indicated on the forms that I want to just coordinate this myself.

In regards to the Pickup tool assigning time automatically, I recommend you visit your Fulfillment Settings on Square Online.
Once there you will want to select the Setup Location option.
And lastly, this will display a series of questions and from here you will be able select that you wish not to automate pickup time.
I hope this information is helpful!

Yes, good. This is the page I have been working from. However it won't let me close that window without putting in some sort of time frame for pick up (on the menu of days of the week), even though I choose "no" for assigning times automatically. What the customer sees on check out looks like this. If I were a customer, I might think an appointment is already scheduled, when it is not. Is this not as big of a problem as I think it is?

Well, here's an interesting development - as they say: "sleep on it." When I tried the same sample process this morning, the same screen looks like this, which is so much better. I took the other shot just a few minutes (or sooner?) after I had changed those setting, so it probably just took a while for the system to "catch up"? Computer brains are hard to read.
I feel glad I discovered that work-around for toggling off inventory tracking - it's a way I could get sales to work at either location, but I have to think a bit about whether that's really what I want to do. But at least it looks like things are working okay. 🙂
Thanks for your help!
