Newbie question

I have a food truck and I will be standing outside using a Square Terminal to place orders and ringing people up.  Is there a way that the order that is placed outside on the Square terminal  can be sent to an iPad inside the food truck so that my employees can see the order and make it? If so could you give me instructions?

Thank you all.

I would recommend the square KDS.  It is the easiest and quickest way to do what you want with the least amount of wiring and hardware.

You can use the terminal to take and process the order and it will show up automatically, you only need a wifi connection.

@Brad13 The Square terminal does not connect to printers via Bluetooth. So either a USB or ethernet printer has to be connected to a network at your location.

Do you have an internet connection at your truck? Is there a router? If so you can get an Ethernet Kitchen Printer | Square Shop (squareup.com) and connect it to the router. Then connect your Terminal to the same router and add the printer. When you make an order you can make the terminal print out an order ticket at the printer. Then your kitchen staff can grab the order and make it.

Otherwise, as said above, it would be best to get an iPad and set it up in the kitchen as a KDS display. It can have timers and color codes and much more. However, it only comes with the $60/month Square for Restaurants plan which gets PRETTY pricey after a while.

Hey @Brad13,

I am jumping in with @PerroneTech to add a little more information.

Our Square KDS is available through the Square for Restaurants Plus subscription or as a standalone subscription. For more info on getting started, check out our Square KDS Guide.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
