Logging in Cashiers prior to order taking

We are a fast casual restaurant with several cashiers. I need to be able to have the cashiers log in prior to taking an order, whether in person or over the phone so that when an issue arises with an order, I know who to talk to about it.  Had an issue yesterday where a discount was given and the three cashiers all have no recollection. Sigh.  Logging in prior to order taking would eliminate guessing games, group meetings asking questions, and just a lot of wasted time.  This would be utilized for good as well, of course...when a guest leaves a review on a cashier, I know who to point the praise to.    Is there a way to create this?  I have been roaming like crazy and coming up empty so far.  Thanks so much!

(I'm not talking about report permissions or clocking in for the day but actually using a code to open the keypad).  Thanks!

Hi @DeniT !

Yeah, isn't it amazing how short-term memory loss affects staff when they do something wrong? 🙄

Square definitely has the ability to have employee logins.

First, on your dashboard, go to the Team section. Click on each employee, and look for the Show Passcode link on the screen that pops up. (If your employees don't have passcodes, there is a way to assign them when you edit the employee.) Give each employee that four digit passcode.

Now, on your Point of Sale, go to More -> Settings -> Security -> Enable Passcodes. You'll need to enter a manager or the owner passcode (also found on your dashboard). Configure any other setting you see fit here. You will need to do this on every device you have.

In the lower right corner of the screen there will now be a Log Out button. Tapping on that will take you to a passcode entry screen.

If you upgrade to Teams Plus, you can add in specific permission sets that will lock down the register so your team can only do the things they need to do.

More information is in this help file.

Hope this helps!
