How do you modify timecard punches if they did not clock out or back in in the middle of the day?

I have employees who leave the office and never clock out or back in. I have been trying to figure out how to add this to their daily timecard after the fact, and before processing payroll, however if they clock in upon arriving in the am and out when leaving for the day then it will not let me modify thier punches to reflect them leaving in the middle of the day.

 

I need to be able to modify their punches to deduct time either in the total actual time gone or with clock outs and clock ins on each day. After reviweing our video cameras I found one employee left  and was gone for 13 hours and 11 minutes over two pay periods and it was not reflected on thier time card. I now have to deduct it from the actual hours worked on Quick Books since my timecard print out is not accurate.

@ShearLove @starbellykeyst I'm sorry for the frustration this has is causing! 

 

You can edit an employee's timecard from the Employees section of your Square Dashboard. However, you must clock out the employee first: As soon as you clock them out, you'll see an "Edit" button and you can click this to manually correct their timecard.

 

If your employee forgot to clock in, you can click Create Timesheet and enter clock in and clock out times for them. 

 

Our Payroll specialists are available by phone Monday - Friday, 6am to 6pm PT. I'm sorry if there's a bit of a wait time but you can request a callback so you don't have to hang around on hold!

Sorry for the confusion - the Employee section recently changed to Team. However, if you need to edit an employee's time card, visit the Timecards section in your Dashboard.

I don't have an Employee section in my dashboard. I have Team>Team Members; Payroll>Payroll Team; Timecards>Workday>Team Member, but no Employee section.

 

Is the Employee section only available in the Square POS terminal? I use Square Payroll, Invoicing, ect, but don't have a retail store, so I don't have a POS terminal. Is there a way to modify employee timecards (eg an employee forgot to clockin) on the Square team app or via logging in via web browser?

Thanks @JustinC !

 

I see now that if I go to Timecards>Workday and then click the day I want to amend, and click on the box with the time listed on it in the center of the page (I either didn't realize that was clickable or I've changed some settings and now that is editable), it pulls up the timecard and I can amend it.. and looks like I can add another timecard by clicking "Add Shift". Thanks for help!

I just found out an employee who works part time, never clocked out last Friday.  It is now Tuesday.  Is there any way to correct the time card now or do I have to make a note and fix it when it's time to run payroll?  Thank you

Hello!

If you use square payroll, there is a "Timecards" link right on the home page after you log into www.squareup.com 

 

it's right underneath the "Payroll" link on the left hand side of the screen (towards the bottom).

 

You should be able to edit your time cards through there. Otherwise, you can definitely adjust it when you run payroll as well - just make a note so you don't forget 🙂

It seems Admins are unable to adjust employee hours unless the employee is clocked out. This comment is a feature improvement request that Admins and other users with Employee Timecard Management Access be able to adjust an employee's clock-in time without the requrement that the employee first clock out.

 

i.e., If an employee forgets to clock in at the beginning of their shift (happens regularly!), Admins and other users w/ edit permissions are required to clock the employee out while adjusting the "clock in" time. We would like to adjust the "clock in" time w/out being required to also log a "clock out" time.
