Can I use the mPOP Receipt Printer and Cash Drawer with an iPhone?

I am considering purchasing this cash drawer: 
mPOP Receipt Printer and Cash Drawer

Can I use the Square app on my iPhone to use the cash drawer or does this have to be used with the stand?

I think it would work with a phone but I don't know for sure. @katieand do you know?

2021 Update! Square now supports Star Micronics mPOP Printer Driven Cash Drawer. The mPOP Printer and Cash Drawer automatically opens the cash drawer or prints receipts every time you complete a sale.

Note: This printer can also be connected to iPads via Bluetooth or it can be connected to Square Stand, Square Register, Square Terminal, or Android devices via USB hub. This printer doesn't support network connectivity. Bluetooth connection is not available on Android devices at this time.

I use Pop with Square and absolutely LOVE it!!!  The cash drawer is connected to the ipad mini via bluetooth and is small enough that no one sees it within the drawer cubby hole in my desk!  Haven't tried it on an Iphone though.
