I'm using recurring invoices to manage the membership dues for my business. I'd like to require that people enable card on file, so that I can ensure that they meet their commitment to a certain duration of membership with monthly billing. Is this an option.
I also have a cancellation policy and want to ensure that I can charge a fee in the event of an early cancellation.
This feels similar to the "in case of cancellation" on the appointments side, but I don't use appointments.

I do have a number of customers that opt in to card on file as described in the page linked, but I don't see a way to require it. Selecting 'Allow Customer to save a card on file' gives the customer the option to pay that way, but I want it to be required, rather than an option.
If I have to manually do that, I can, but it would be much easier if it was enforced in the invoice.

HI, I have seen several community discussions stating even if cards are required for payment, customers are adding invalid cards and/or removing cards with sellers having no support to collect payments.

OK, but can I require them?
They'll be making a payment immediately, so I at least know the card is valid at that time. As far as the card expiring or be cancelled after that, sure that happens, but that is an issue whether I manually require card on file or it is enforced in the invoice.
Not sure how that changes anything.
