Can I apply discount codes when using Square buttons?
I'm implementing Square into WordPress and right now think the buttons are suitable enough as it's only going to be 3-4 different course-type things for sale. A 25% off feature needs to be available for former soldiers but i don't know if I can do this type of thing using buttons? I feel like WooCommerce is a bit overkill being as there won't be many products. Any other free solutions to the proboem are every welcome. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps. 🙂

Hi @powlzee, thanks for your post! Are you using the Square Checkout Links by any chance? If so, discounts do not work with Checkout Links at the moment. The only workaround I can think of at the moment is to create links specific for former soldiers with the discounted price so you can share it with them.

Yes, Checkout Links and Buttons is what I was using. The person I'm doing this for says that there will be lots of discounts for different groups in the future and adding another step of personally sending and creating links could be tedious for him. The biggest issue is a lot of these courses are set up on different dates as well. I'm starting to think I may not be able to get his vision across with checkout links/buttons. Is there another free solution that could compete or do I need to start considering paid options for him?
Thank you ever so much for your help. 🙂

There are a couple of alternatives I can think of @powlzee!
If the person would like to continue using their WordPress site, they can connect Square as a payment gateway using WooCommerce or WP EasyCart to create discounts and have it apply to items/courses.
If they are okay with having a second site, you can create a free Square Online site which is a full version of the checkout link. With this, you can create voucher code to give discounts and share that code with eligible customers.
I hope that will help!

Ah, for some reason I thought WP EasyCart was paid only (with a 14 day free trial). It seems that there is a free version just with limited features. My bad!
I will try WP EasyCart tomorrow if so. Unless you believe WooCommerce will be easier for him? I have set up WooCommerce shops before (although not with Square) but thought it was too feature-rich for his needs and might be overwhelming. I have never used WP EasyCart though.
