Insurance needed for cottage kitchen / pop-up farmers market?
Hello Community,
I am looking for insights and recommendations Iām getting insurance for my home-based cottage kitchen production.
Currently I making all of my chocolate products from my home kitchen which is licensed with my local and state health department As well as having a full business license. As I build this business I am looking to expand into a bricks and mortar location but in the meantime sales and demand are strong going into the holiday season. We have been invited to participate in our local artisans farmers market this weekend and next weekend and I want to know what sort of insurance others have used for this type of thing. My business is currently insured through my homeowners insurance but Iām not sure if that covers some thing like a farmers market in a different location.
Thoughts?
thanks!

Look into https://www.fliprogram.com/ FLIP is designed for this type of business and I had success using it as I grew from start up to a bit bigger. It works on and off site to cover your business. Just maintain appropriate property insurance seperately.

I'm in a similar predicament. I was invited to vend at a local farmers market and currently I make herbal preparations (mostly teas) and operate under the cottage food law in the State of Missouri. This particular Market wants me to have a city license. Do you know if this is required/or common?

I use State Farm and have a great relationship with my local rep. If I need a certificate I send her an email and it gets done. Check with your insurance company first as having a relationship is key. Have fun selling!
