Question of the Week- What would YOU do with unlimited funds for your biz, (with a catch).

Imagine this- you have unlimited funds for 24 hours.. what would you do in your business? Give me the pragmatic and the FANTASTIC!

Some ideas for our biz (we own a crystal shop) beyond paying off our line of credit and a HUGE inventory buy (remember that game show Supermarket Sweep.. I bet it would feel like that)...

I'd also make arrangements for us to attend the Gem Shows in France & Munich (I'd LOVE to check out the European shows but they just aren't practical).

If I had time- new laptops.... one of those polaroid aura photography setups (they're like 25k). And an old school Zoltar machine!

Someone asked "what's the catch"- No catch... no repayment - 24 hours only and for your business, not personal ๐Ÿ™‚

We had a new 18ft trailer built 3 years ago and I spent 2 years with the trailer driving the truck, We towed with a 1/2 ton Nissan Titan. Last year we ordered a 3/4 ton F-250 and itโ€™s night and day. It doesnโ€™t feel like the trailer is behind us now, driving has been much more enjoyable.

@DinaLRosenberg Me and my team had way too much fun this afternoon with this one.  WAYYYYY too much time wasted but I will call it bonding.  Here we go:

This is the kind of hypothetical chaos that I love.  We came up with 2 roads:  Things that would make the business better & Go big or Go Home

The Smart Business Moves

  1. Buy a Fully Integrated POS & AI-Driven Kitchen System

    • A system that tracks inventory in real-time, predicts food waste, and auto-orders based on sales trends. Our Square system is already strong, but imagine if it told me exactly what I needed before I ran out.
  2. Franchise-Level Kitchen Revamp

    • Every store gets a complete kitchen upgradeโ€”state-of-the-art fryers, speed ovens, and ventilation systems that actually work instead of just moving hot air around.
  3. Prepay Employee Salaries for a Year

    • Imagine the morale boost if everyone knew they were financially secure for the next year while still working as usual.
  4. Buy a "Break Glass in Case of Emergency" Backup Staff

    • A rotating crew of elite, on-call kitchen mercenaries (think The Expendables, but they wield spatulas instead of guns). They only come in for peak times, flu season, or when Virginia decides she actually IS too sick to work.
  5. Custom Food Truck for Expansion

    • A fully branded mobile kitchen to test new markets, cater events, and throw the biggest middle finger at competitors. Bonus: Food truck wars against people who canโ€™t cook half as well as my team.

If Money Were No Object & Logic Didnโ€™t Exist

  1. The "You Got Sharoned" Employee Training Simulator

    • A VR simulation of all the worst-case employee mistakes (open tea nozzles, fake money deposits, the infamous grilled cheese question). New hires must survive five full shifts in Virtual Sharon Hell before theyโ€™re allowed to work the real floor.
  2. Psychic AI Kitchen Assistant

    • Modeled off of actual conversations with AI, except this one is a holographic entity in the kitchen. It floats around giving real-time managerial feedback and astrological predictions on employee meltdowns.  It also can snitch on who left the sink running and overflowed the dish pit.
  3. A Restaurant Empire Built Like a Mafia Organization

    • Every store operates like a House in Game of Thrones. Employees swear fealty, receive titles like "Lord of the Fryer," and kitchen wars settle disputes instead of HR.
  4. A Grand Employee Tournament (The โ€œCulinary Coliseumโ€)

    • Once a year, all managers and employees compete in a battle royale. Tasks range from grill line speed rounds to handling the most obnoxious customer without snapping.
    • The winner gets a golden spatula and a week off with pay. The loser? Dish duty for a month.
  5. A Kitchen Cult Compound (But Fun!)

    • A massive facility with a fully stocked kitchen, housing for employees, an indoor garden, and a therapy goat. Employees live and work in harmony, solving problems through tarot readings and Buffalo sauce debates.

Final Move:

Before the 24 hours are up, stash some of the unlimited money in an offshore account. That way, when the funds disappear, Iโ€™ve still got a golden parachute for future Shenanigansโ„ข.

If money was no object.

First we would go to China to tour the factories we are contracted with to see the full operation. They invite us all the time, but time is our enemy just not enough of it.

Second I would hire a photography and social media team. Again time is our enemy and some of our photos donโ€™t look that great. Luckily this year we have got two of the factories we work with to use their photography team to take photos for us.

Third, get a warehouse.

@DinaLRosenberg I would have to go for a Spider vertical circular tunnel. It's a vertical cooling tunnel for chocolate making, they just look so cool when making chocolate bars. I could sit back and switch it on with my big toe, not sure the hygiene inspector would appreciate that.

Ooohhh... you got my mind spinning @DinaLRosenberg !!

Yeah the obvious would be to clear all the debt of course. Then make an offer for a cash purchase of the property where my business is at (15+ acres commercially zoned, rumor mill says asking price is $20M because real estate in Colorado is just STUPID right now).

On the actual business, I'd definitely finish the build out of my coffee bar, stock it with all the whiz-bang things that aren't practical at all but a blast to ooh and aah over, bring on a team of well trained, paid in advance people (I like that idea a lot @Donnie-M !), and prebook flights and accommodations to many of the coffee growing areas of the world to time with the harvest season. Add in a few donations to the nonprofits that are core components of our community, and I think I've done some significant damage to that unlimited budget.

What a fun distraction from my crazy day! Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

1.  Pay off all debt.

2.  Get all the mechanical issues fixed on the truck (it's a diesel, don't trade it in).

3.  Buy the custom work box for the truck he's been wanting and get the vinyl graphics redone.

4.  Get the carport built that we need for the work truck.

5.  Get the shop redone and another structure built for the tractor and implements.

6.  Buy a new box trailer for jobs.

7.  Replace the welder.

This was a great question!!  I wish that I had more creative ideas, but we're so limited with being a service company and no employees.
