Great news everyone! Alongside the release of our latest version of Square Point of Sale (Version 4.50) , we introduced the feature to turn off Employee Management. This means you can remove passcodes altogether, there is no longer the need to use the workaround that I suggested!

To do so, just follow these steps:

1. Make sure your app is up-to-date.

2. Navigate to the "Settings" for Square Point of Sale.

3. Tap "Employee Management"

4. Toggle off "Enable Employee Passcode Access"

I want to thank everyone again for taking the time to share their feedback! It is truly a gift to us! 🙂

@shometint - It looks like I helped another seller with the same question in this thread. Check out my reply.

I made the mistake of creating a passcode. I am the only one who logs into my account and now I have to add a passcode along with my email and a password. Seems like a waste of time. Was told it cannot be removed. Just don't need a passcode.

I had this issue also. I could not use my phone for card purchases without a Passcode. I entered the Passcode but it would not take it. I could not deactivate a non-existent Employee. I could not reset Passcode. This all happened after my sale in August 2020, and I today, Dec. 1, 2020, found my own resolution.

I went into 2-Step Verification and disabled it.  Then I went to Team Permissions and put myself in as a Team Member. I made sure to give myself (of all people) Full Access. I then generated a new Passcode (since I could not deactivate the other). I only changed the last number.

I set myself up the new Team Member email, etc. I received the invitation and accepted my new role as a Team Member of my own Company.

I restarted my Square, and BAM!!! I have to log in as my new self, but can use Square again!!!
