The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Why is my Square Online Store loading slowly for some customers but not?"
I’ve noticed that my Square Online Store loads slowly for some customers, while others can access it without any issues. This seems to happen across different devices and locations, which makes it difficult to pinpoint the cause. The store itself hasn’t had any recent major changes, so I’m wondering if this could be related to customer network differences, browser settings, caching, large images, third-party integrations, or Square’s content delivery behavior. I’d like to understand what typically causes inconsistent loading speeds and what steps are recommended to identify and improve performance for all visitors. For reference, this is the store URL customers are reporting issues with: [https://dunkinmenu.org/]
Hello @fdgfg and welcome to the Square Community 👋 My name is Violet and I'm one of the Moderators here.
I looked up the URL you shared on whois.com, and it's showing that your site is registered to Spaceship, Inc., not Square or Weebly. You will need to reach out to them directly for assistance.
Hello @fdgfg
To address the basics first: Square's servers send a lot of information to the web browsers at once and trust the browser to render the page as needed. This means that the site load times are very dependent upon the capabilities of the user's computer. If the user has a ton of tabs open, hasn't restarted their computer recently, or has older hardware, it will cause slow load times. And of course if the user's internet connection is slower there will definitely be speed issues.
Now for specifics, I'm trying to figure out why your url sends us to a site talking about an established chain's product offerings. Is this your business model, because I can see some corporate lawyers having some issues with your content. Since this seems to just be a price tracker website versus actual sales, I'm also trying to figure out why you've decided to host it on a Square website. Square's sites are designed mostly for purchasing. I'd like to know a little bit more about your business model!
Thank you for your detailed response and for explaining how Square handles page rendering. That explanation makes sense, and I understand how user-side factors such as device capability, browser state, and internet speed can affect load times.
Regarding the URL and business model, I appreciate you pointing that out. The linked website is not intended to represent or sell products on behalf of the brand. It is an informational website that provides menu listings and price references based on publicly available information. There are no transactions, checkout processes, or payment handling on the site.
The reason it is hosted on Square Online is mainly for convenience, built-in hosting, and layout flexibility, even though it is not being used for direct purchasing. At this stage, the site functions more as a content-based reference resource rather than a traditional eCommerce store.
My main goal in asking this question was to better understand the reasons behind inconsistent loading speeds and to learn about any Square-specific best practices for improving performance for all visitors, especially on content-heavy pages.
Thanks again for your insights and for taking the time to respond.
