Why is sales tax based on zip code and not tax jurisdiction code?

I am based in Kansas, so when we ship products to Kansas residents we have to charge sales tax.  Weebly confirmed to me that they use the zip code to determine the sales tax rate to charge.  The problem is that in Kansas (and many other states), there are multiple tax rates within a zip code.  Why doesn't Weebly determine sales tax using jurisdiction codes instead of zip codes?    We, along with all other Weebly sites that are using the auto-tax featuer, are collecting the incorrect amount of sales tax from many of our customers.

Hi @tscfm I'm originally from Kansas!! Smiley Happy Our automatic tax calculator should take this info into consideration. I know it does it for California. Do you have any examples where you know for certain the incorrect tax was applied?

Very cool Bernadette... there's no place like home!  Yes, I can give you a recent example.  On order #1160978274  placed on 11/19/19, the individual has a zip code of 67561.  There are two tax jurisdicitions for this zip code.  NICRN jurisdiction is for residents that live in the town of Nickerson, at a rate of 8.5%.  RENCO jurisdiction covers those in this zip code that do not live within Nickerson city limits, at a rate of 7.5%.  This person does not live within city limits, therefore should be charged 7.5%.  The item was $15 and they were charged $1.28 sales tax, which is 8.5%.
