Removing Weebly Footer Branding

I've tried to remove the Weebly Footer Branding on my website, but it tells me that it's a Premium Element, but I had bought the Starter package, so that I could link my existing domain with my Weebly site, as well as removing the Weebly branding, which is part of the Starter package. Yet I can't change it - Why?

You have the Connect plan and not Starter, @MikaFromDenmark, which is why you are being prompted to upgrade. The only feature of Connect is being able to use a domain name purchased elsewhere.

But why does it check off in the "No Weebly Branding" at the Starter package then? It's like Weebly is the new CNN - fake news.

Because the Starter package does include that. The thing is, your site is only upgraded to Connect and not Starter. If you visit https://www.weebly.com/pricing in a different browser you'll see what I mean.

But it's the Starter package I have bought. I clicked on that and paid for that to connect my domain with my Weebly site?

@Adam, @MikaFromDenmark:  yes it is kind of confusing.  It seems that many times the 'Connect' option does not show.  The link Adam gave only has Free, Starter, Pro and Business.

However, if you try to Upgrade from within your account the Connect option shows up.  When people see the pricing from a link they decide they want the first cheapest option.  Then when they go to their account and see Connect as a first option they believe it is same as the Starter.

Mika if you paid something like $50/yr, you have connect plan.  If it is around $100 you have starter.

But they problem is: I was in my Site Editor, and clicked "Upgrade" in the upper righthand corner and then bought the first one, which is the Starter package, which includes connecting my domain as well as removing Weebly branding. So I'm hella confused why it says I have bought Connect.

@MikaFromDenmark:  I don't know.  It is one of the greatest mystery of the weebly world.  The bottom line is were you charged $50/yr or $100/yr?  If only 50 you have connect if 100 you have starter.

I am sure @Adam can fix that by charging you the right amount.

I selected the Starter package and chose to pay each month.

@MikaFromDenmark:  That image does not show what exactly you have - it is not the image of the checkout page when you purchased. That image only shows if you want to Upgrade from Connect.  It is also showing you a credit from connect plan if you wish to upgrade.

Go to your accounts and under your services you should see an image like this.  I am not familiar with monthly pricing numbers, but check your credit card does it matches the pricing shown on your table?  Are you really paying $14/mo+VAT or you were charged less than that (I believe you must have been charged around $7+VAT?

@MikaFromDenmark:  To help you sort out the issue, here are two other things you can do.

In addition to the My services screen shot, check your order history.  Also check your billing method of how much you were charged.  If the prices correspond to 'Starter' plan you have a ligitimate issue.  In absence of that all the screenshots you have presented so far are like Fox & Bimbo's alternate reality fake news.

Sorry for the confusion @MikaFromDenmark. If you click on your name in the top right corner you will see the Account link. Then click Order History and you will see the purchase you made.

You can pay the difference (as shown in your screen shot) to be upgraded to the plan you want, though.

I am having the same issue. I definitely purchased the Starter plan, not the connect plan, and the receipt confirms this. I published on the free plan and there was a gigantic blue banner pop up in the lower left hand corner on every page. I unpublished, upgraded to Starter, got the receipt, bought a domain through Weebly, and re-published. Now there is a more subtle "Proudly powered by Weebly" statement in gray text on white in the lower right hand corner of my site, yet I specifically bought the Starter plan because it has a checkmark next to "remove Weebly branding."

Why is the branding still showing?

Hi @JamieIfL It looks like you just need to edit the footer area and publish. Log into the editor then double click in the footer section. You can delete the Weebly branding and drag/drop your own content using the elements on the left hand side.

Perfect - I had tried that earlier and it was telling me I needed to upgrade to edit the footer. I must have still been in an old editing window before I upgraded to Starter. Thank you - it's fixed! So happy it works 🙂
