Password Protection of webpages and logout

Hello

I have a few pages that are password protected. I would like to know when these pages will be logged out automatically, as it seems that once you enter the password, the page/session is accessible always!

Thanks,

DCMoL

Hi @DCMoL Unless someone closes the browser session and/or clears cookies, they will remain logged in. There isn't a way to auto log someone out. Is there a particular reason you do not want someone with the password to remain logged into the page?

@Bernadette thank you for your answer. It is important as I need to make sure the pages are secure when the browser is closed. Not sure what you mean by closing browser session, as I tried it and the page is not asking for a password again.

Thanks,

DCMoL

Hi @DCMoL It may be the way your browser is setup. Some people have their browser settings close all sessions and delete cookies when the session ends. Unfortunately, there's really no way to guarantee that the session will log someone out as it sounds like your browser in particular is saving cookie information. Are you worried someone would be using a public computer or do you just not want someone having access to the page after the first visit?

I have the same question and it seems it's a huge security hole on our websites.  I manage a website for a local art guild and we have our membership's contact list on a password-protected page.  But if any member logs in from an insecure computer (like a library, etc.), even if the browser is closed, the password is still there and any stranger can access that page and access the addresses and phone numbers of all our members.  Our members are just regular computer users and would have no idea what the cookies are, never mind how to clear them.  This is unacceptable.

Has this been added yet? With the focus on internet security these days, I can't believe how lacking Weebly is!
