Page editor won't load...

I've cleaned my Chrome browser, which is the one I use most of the time. All other sites I've tried to access are loading quickly, but the Weebly page editor won't load on Chrome, Edge or Firefox. It just sits and spins.

It's doing the same thing from my mobile device.

Do you have any anti-virus software on your computer?

I have but I disabled it and still get the site is taking too long to load error message. I would think it is an error with your servers (the sheer volume of traffic) surely?

I think something is blocking it from loading for you, and the browser doesn't know so it just behaves the same as it would if there were network problems.

Are you using an office network or something similiar?

OK it has been over a week now and my pages still won't load. I feel the blame is being put on me 'have you done this or that'. Yes I have done EVERYTHING and your site editor will not load. What are you going to do about this? I have several domains with you - are you going to refund the cost of these? Can you provide an alternative method of accessing the site editor? I would blog about how useless weebly are... oh wait I can't .... I expect a response which isn't about firewalls, caches or clearing my history please with a real solution. I am a very angry customer.

I'm really sorry for the troubles, @SSysum and definitely understand the frustration. Our servers are up and running and the issue is not happening to every Weebly customer. Are you able to access the editor from a different connection such a mobile data? One extra step I would suggest is to clear the cache from your internet router. To do this you will need to restart your network. Unplug both modem and wifi router, wait 30+ seconds, plug in the modem and then plug in the router.

Once more, Weebly has responded pretty well, since sometime last week. Today MicroSoft did an update, and today, Weebly won't load. And again, one more pic to add to the ever enlarging album of reports about this problem... STILL discouraged and annoyed.

Sorry to hear that, @femmeflashpoint. If you have any security software installed, can you check and make sure that Weebly.com and Editmysite.com are both whitelisted?

Mine started a few days ago as well.  Up to this point, I've loved Weebly, but now I can't do anything with it.  I've tried different browsers and devices.

Same problems here, I have read this entire post. I'm a network admin for my company and have reset everything and reinstalled chrome on my machine. Tried on my home PC, work PC and while hotspotting etc. No browser will load the editor. My one PC on a simple network is very basic, no firewall other than windows and I tried whitelisting and then disabling completely. No idea whats going on at this point, but I've spend too many hours troubleshooting. Our website doesn't need updating that badly.

Hi @MB3!

Thanks for reaching out to us. I did take a look at your account and from our end we are only seeing one IP from the same location logging in to the account. Are you able to go to a different location and try to access the editor to see if that works? You can always check your IP by going to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and it will show it to you at the top of that page. From within your weebly account you can check the login history by clicking on info in the upper right hand corner, clicking account, then there will be a tab for Login History which will show the IP Address for all logins to your acccount. If you are still having this issue once logging in from another location please let us know.

I've had this problem and just managed to solve it. So, at first I cleared the cache etc. and it didn't help so I tried on another PC and it worked fine so I knew the problem was my PC.

I tried turing off my firewall on 'McAfee' and it worked.  Obviously, I didn't want to keep the firewall off forever so I 'allowed' the IP address for the Weebly editor.  This is how;

I opened McAfee, then PC settings, then clicked firewall, then scrolled down to net guard found the IP address for Weebly editor (check the date it was blocked so you allow the right one)  clicked it and clicked allow.  Problem solved!

Hope this helps others as I know how annoying it can be!

I had a similar issue, could edit weebly site since installing new WiFi AP, which had Trend Micro service included, turned of AV now works. Need to figure out how to fix, but problem with me not Weebly.

I was having this problem today. I turned off "Safe Browsing" under Advanced Settings in Chrome and was able to edit my Weebly Site.

I hope that works for you.

Do you see the "reconnect to the server error" on desktop or mobile app? Are you able to log into the Weebly dashboard (first page after you login) but not the editor itself, or are you having trouble loading any page?

I'm having the same issue. Nothing is happening when I go to the web editor - it stops loading but I can't see any other pages of my website. I just want to add posts to my blog...I tried clearing cookies and turning off SafeSearch on Chrome but still no luck. Can someone please help?

Hi @seyma Are you using MalwareBytes or another type of protection service, by chance? Do you have a different device and internet connection you can test out? i.e. mobile phone using data

Hi @Bernadette,

Thanks for your reply. I normally work in Chrome on my laptop and the only protection service I think might be an issue is Adblock, but if that's the case, why was I able to access the editor on Chrome previously?

I've tried accessing the editor on my computer using Internet Explorer, which doesn't have Adblock, but I can't access it using that browser, either.

Logging in on my iPhone (Safari) I do seem to be able to access the editor but it's not practical for me to edit the website and post to the blog on such a small screen. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Seyma
