Link Facebook and Twitter account with blog

Hello,

I have built many websites with Weebly and in one of my blogs, I got to enter my Facebook info into the settings Panel, which allows me to publish my blog posts simultaneously on my website and on my Facebook wall. This is for a personal website.

I'm now working on a website from the Designer platform for a client and wanted to do the same thing, but the option to link their Facebook account info is nowhere to be found in the Settings.

Did I miss something? How come this option isn't showing when building a site from the Designer Platform?

Is there a way to link a Twitter account as well so blog posts are posted to Facebook and Twitter when a post is published?

Thanks!

Hey again @amberflynn!

The option isn't there for the Designer platform because the apps that perform those functions are Weebly-branded.  Since Designer is white-labeled we can't use them with it.  If you'd like us to make a white-labled option feel free to suggest that on our Vote on Features board, though:

I'm not sure what white-labeled option is, but I have a question about using Facebook also. If do a blog on Weebly, can I link it to my facebook to the point I only have to use either Weebly or Facebook to insert my text? Will I still have to use both and go back and forth in each program to put in my articles?

Hey there! You should have the option to share your blog posts on Facebook automatically as they're posted, which should save you from having to share them manually each time.

(Also, white-labeled means that there's no Weebly branding or other signs of Weebly on it.)

I used to get the Facebook pop up for sharing scheduled posts, but it no longer happens and my post never automatically shares to facebook.

I assume I am missing something in the settings?

Hi @jennk01 On August 1st Facebook made a change to their Live API which prohibits us from sharing posts to Facebook on a user's behalf. All posts must now be manually shared by the user.

You can read Facebook's announcement of this API change here:
https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2018/04/24/new-facebook-platform-product-changes-policy-up...

Our new Facebook sharing flow will redirect you to facebook.com where you will log in to your Facebook account to authorize the share. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Can you remove the Facebook like button if it’s not working on designer platform for blogs?

This is a like button on the bottom of a blog post, right @JPK? That should be working, although they can be turned off in blog settings.

Hi, Could you tell me the great secret of sharing my Weebly blog post on Facebook?  I can't manage it for hours.

Welcome to the Community, @Istvan952. When you publish you should see a Facebook icon on the publishing popup. Click on that and it will load a popup to share the post on Facebook.

You can also just visit the blog post in your browser, copy the URL, then go to Facebook and share it as part of post you make.

Adam,

Please can you help me?

You told a prior questioner this:

<<<You can also just visit the blog post in your browser, copy the URL, then go to Facebook and share it as part of post you make.>>>

I cannot get my blog image to show up on my facebook post when I do this.  I have tried the debug thing where you have Facebook rescrape the post, but still, no image. I would love help with this. It is a major frustration.

Thank you, Mary

Hi Mary. Are you trying to add an image specific to the blog post, or do you want the same image to appear no matter what link you share from your page?

Can you post a link to the blog post you are trying to share?

Hmm... that's weird. Do you have the Facebook app installed on that device, and/or are you logged into your Facebook account in mobile Safari?

I have the app installed on my device and also tried it with being logged in and logged out on safari (same issue). I’ve also tried it on desktop and it counts the “like” but it doesn’t show up anywhere. It shows up in the activity log but not in my feed or anywhere on my page that anyone can see it. So I’m not sure what the point to having it would be. Thanks for your help with this Adam!

I think that's how the like button is designed to work; a share button would be what you want if you want it to share something to your Facebook feed.

I remember a long time ago that likes used to show, but it looks like since at least 2015 they haven't been doing it.

Thanks Adam.. that is actually what I was thinking. Do you know off hand if there is any way I can add a share feature to a blog via the designer platform or does it go back to your comments on the white labeling and also Facebook changing their policy last Aug? .. I’m wondering if I should just disable it. Would be nice to be able to share from the blog though. Thanks again!

With theme customization you could definitely add those. If you're familiar with HTML and CSS I would check the blog partials for the theme and try adding the code for a share button there.
